When I was in high school these stunts were in their infancy, me and my partner trained for weeks to get them down to an art so we could convince the state and the school that they could be performed safely. The hardest part for me was providing enough "cushion" for my partner to land comfortably but maintain enough strength and control to still be as stable as possible. My partner says her biggest challenge was overcoming the natural instinct to bend her knees when she landed and to trust me enough that I was going to provide the stability she needed to remain balanced.

That is awesome! In the last 25 years, they have added the twist. My daughter was a collegiate head cheerleader in the late 1990's. Her base would throw her up, catch one foot while she put her other leg behind her shoulder. Then he would walk the sideline while doing presses with her. But I've never seen it done with a twist.
