Caribbean chef and cheese addict Gary Tomlin tips the scales at 21 stone eight, and Amy Simons' meal skipping bad habits see her weigh in at eight stone three. The pair swap diets.
Each of the participants eat the diet of the other. At the end of the experiment, they have a better idea of how extreme their consumption looks to another person. Every episode I saw had the participants sharing an experience that gave them empathy for other that usually didn't exist before. At the follow-up after the end of the experiment, they were true friends who relied on each other for encouragement. I can think of only one show where a participant had gained weight. All of the others were successful in following their program.

They had a genuine compassion for one another and saw one another as two people who both need help.. Not trying to compare who is worse off or anything. It was beautiful. when i was borderline underweight at 120 lbs i found myself dependent on caffeine for any energy now that i weigh 150 im finding that having a full tummy is a lot better of a source of energy than iced coffee and monster energy

Coz she doesn't really have anorexia. Inmho, anorexia is a mental disorder that results to eating disorder. But for the skinny mom here, it's just financial obligations probably that prevents her from indulging and lack of time as well. M skinny and most of the time I think of eating big portions of food. I love meat as well but sometimes the circumstances like where u live or the people u are with, prevent u from doing that. Work is also a big influencer of eating disorder.

I think a lot of them most likely have anemia, and when you're anemic your spleen is enlarged and it presses against the stomach - eating is painful and you feel full. Anyway I'm really proud of Amy for trying her best!

it’s water weight, but yes it’s good that she ate a little. however, she’s anorexic and i can imagine this is very tough for her, let’s hope she doesn’t develop bulimia, if she hasn’t already. forcing food in someone cannot “cure them” of an eating disorder, they have to deal with the root cause.

it is SO refreshing to see them talk about anorexia as well as obesity, honestly. anorexia is JUST AS dangerous as obesity, but no one wants to talk about that because people want to think that skinny = healthy. coming from someone who has been obese and is struggling with anorexia, they are equally as dangerous as each other and both end in death if the person is not willing to make changes and reach out for help. we need to talk about eating disorders more. seriously. and i’m so glad this show sheds a light on it.

Same, my dad did something similar with me, I love pizza but I can’t have pizza everyday.. or so I thought at the time, my dad made me some cheese on toast using tomato ketchup as the base and I was in heaven. I started adding herbs to it and toppings and I’ve been in love ever since. However it’s been piling the weight on me so I’ve had to stop eating so much cheese 😭 I feel better for it but dang I miss my cheese on toast! but at least I’m loosing the weight now.

This show helped me get from 99lbs to 106lbs in a year. There are many foods I can’t eat because of food allergies and intolerances, so I went without eating. I have celiac disease, tomato allergy, egg allergy, walnut allergy. I’ve had to learn to eat a tablespoon more when I feel full, but still can’t eat all of what I prepare, my eyes are bigger than my stomach.

Celiac disease sucks, my nephew has it too. It stunted his growth, but luckily they discovered it early enough that he's now at a normal height. He had the craziest growth spurt over a year after he started on a diet that he could stomach (pun intended). Never seen anything like it. Good to hear you're doing well 🤗

@@DanielSmedegaardBuus Thanks for your question. I break out with dermatitis on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet if I eat any nickel foods. In systemic nickel allergy, there are known foods that contain high levels of nickel. But, any person with a SNA , is more sensitive to other medium & low level nickel foods. There are some foods in the low nickel range that I have reacted to. I have a nickel navigator app and I log everything I eat, when I break out, I know what caused a breakout. So I find out after. There have not been enough food studies on it. The last food studies were done in 2018. Nickel gets into fresh foods through the soil they grow in. Others are processed on stainless steel equipment when it’s processed. It’s a process of elimination.

Yes I went to the doctors and had my blood pressure checked and it was normal. They sent me to the ER because they didn't have the equipment I needed and when they took my blood pressure they said it was high and that some people feel stressed in ER's to the point your blood pressure shoots up.

Gary is one of the best supersizers I have ever seen mostly because as a chef his palette displayed variety reflected on the food he served up to Amy and his career as a chef specializing in Caribbean food. On top of that, he has a mellow, lovable, sympathetic personality which made me root for his success even more and a charisma that can never be beaten. As for Amy, I definitely find her just as sympathetic, friendly, and non-judgmental and there is no pretentiousness about her, considering how much of a naturally nice person she is. Overall, this is one of my personal favorite match-ups in not only Series 7 but also the whole of Supersize vs Superskinny because of their overall moral support towards each other, which is nothing short of phenomenal. I am also really sure that Gary has even taught Amy a few culinary tricks and tips to make her palette delve into more flavors unknown.
