Good to see the progress on your cave. I’m also building a cave (Manson wa ) and a suggestion I have is that you build a cover, like a porch/patio on your front door so you don’t have a 6 ft of snow sitting in front of your door in the winter
@vnthomas162 жыл бұрын
We plan to build a roof over the opening. It’s been in the plans, but we didn’t want to build it until after the door was cut as there was already a limited amount of space to maneuver the saw, and I didn’t want to add that extra degree of difficulty yet! Haha! Good luck on your build!

🧀 I love the way you two tackle a project. It is obvious to me a lot of research and thinking have gone into the learning and planning of the cheese cave. I am looking forward to observing more as the journey continues. Great channel 💕

The cave really coming along! That saw looked like a real workout. Fun to see what use you find for the concrete squares you now have. Have a good one😁

I think the bottom square is going to stay at the bottom of the stairs as a landing! Haha! Thanks for watching!

That is pretty cool. Cutting that concrete is so loud. We had 2 windows in the basement enlarged. Had to go to Green bluff while the men made noise! Lol. How are the baby jerseys?

The babies aren’t so much babies anymore, but more like rowdy teenagers! Haha!

Well done! The door should be easy compared to everything else! I am curious as to why you didn't put a foundation sealer on the outer concrete, do you think the humidity level will be low?
@vnthomas162 жыл бұрын
Didn’t really think of using a sealer as it was a water tank already I suppose. We will be whitewashing the inside, and we do need a fairly humid environment for aging cheese. Building a door should be easy! But you never know what will happen! Haha! Getting the door in is the priority for this week! Thanks for watching!

Excellent job,cutting in a relatively confined space. Will there be any sort of windbreak or cover to keep the entrance clear? Looks like you've got good grass coverage on the mound. Take care guys
@vnthomas162 жыл бұрын
Yes, there will be a small roof over the door opening. We haven’t built it yet as the space was already confined enough to maneuver the saw in, and I just didn’t want that added degree of difficulty! Haha!

What temperature is a cheese cave?
@vnthomas162 жыл бұрын
We’re aiming for around 55° during the time we’re aging cheeses.
