how long will this last? Traditionally they don't add heavy cream at the end so I was wondering...

I tried this yesterday but it failed. lol. It came out of the press very grainy and even with additional cream, remained grainy and unable to stay together in molds. Do you know what I did wrong? I used live yogurt and purchased whole milk. The batter doesn't taste bad. Not at all sour though, even before the brown sugar. I am part Mongolian, and really wanted to try some authentic recipes! Help!

Hello dear, So sorry to hear that. But I don't think you did any wrong! In Mongolia we make this after milked the cow. But store bought milk is tricky. I only use "organic" "whole" milk bought from Costco. There were times even some organic milk from grocery store did not work. I always use remaining milk used for clotted cream. If milk can't make clotted cream, then milk is not really real! Do you live in States? if you do, I would send you some.

@@9handz-diy819 I do! I live in Idaho. I would love to see what it is suppose to taste like. Is is suppose to have a grainy texture or smooth texture finished? Mine has been drying for a couple days now and is getting hard, but only the stuff I cut in slices right off the round before adding the sugar/cream. The stuff with the cream is just drying crumbly. I will try with with milk to make clotted cream. Good use of all the milk. I made Urum from straight cream, but haven't tried it with whole milk. Thx for your help.

The 2 things that I was unsure on was how long to press. I did 24 hours. Is that too long? Also, wasn't sure how long to boil. If I stopped stirring, it wanted to shoot up like a volcano. lol

Lastly, mine has no flavor. I can suck on just fine, but it almost barely has a taste of yogurt. It that normal as well? This was the stuff that I sliced straight off the round. Thanks for helping me. I want to get it right.
