I never knew what parboiled rice was and simply avoided it. Thank you. That topping looks like it would be awesome over almost anything. I could see swapping mozzarella and Parmesan for the cheddar and putting it on some fish. Or keeping it the same.

In my second time with this delicious casserole, I wanted to figure out how to make a double batch. Just making twice as much and stacking twice as much topping doesn't work. So my solution was to cook the double portion together until the air crisp step. Then I removed half of the mix, added one portion of the topping and crisped according to the directions. I carefully removed that batch and put it in shallow storage containers for later. It freezes very well. Then I returned the second batch to the Ninja, added the second portion of topping and air crisped that batch. We ate half of that batch and put the rest away for leftovers. And it worked great!

This WAS so easy to make but, as usual, I found a way to screw it up. Lol! It was just the panko crust. I thought I used enough butter but guess I didn't. Doh! However, it didn't stop me from having two bowls of it! It was STILL yummy! I also used ground turkey instead of beef and added extra pepper and used herbs de provence to flavor it a bit more. Mmmm....! I'll get it RIGHT next time with the panko crust. Thanks for this great recipe!

When you start to upload vids on the ninja foodi xl pro oven would you consider doing a series on how to cook the basics in it? The dilemma I keep running into is that even though there so many cookbooks out there, none of them have directions on how to make basic items. Like how do you cook salmon in it or make cornbread in it, or a simple box cake. Sometimes you don't want or need to make an elaborate meal and just want to make something simple.
@7heRedBaron4 жыл бұрын
Junk Mail I microwave cornbread batter on low for five minutes then bake it at 320 in my Foodi for 10 minutes or til the top is brown. Proofing it in the microwave keeps it from drying out as much as fully baking it, in my humble opinion. Enjoy.

panko is a type of bread crumb, you can usually find them in any grocery store. They are coarser and crunchier than regular bread crumbs.

That looks like something I'd definitely eat. I'm regular dude and I'm a bit confused about the rice part. If I intend to use normal, long-grained white rice... does it just need to be pre-cooked? Half-cooked? Uncooked? Not sure how important 'par-boiled rice' is to this recipe [but I've never seen par-boiled rice in my grocery store].

Ok, I visited your recipe page the first time, BUT I skipped right to the recipe. This time I went back and read through [almost] everything and saw that note about rinsing the white rice first. So, it sounds like I would use normal, uncooked white rice that's first been rinsed! [Like I do before I cook it in my rice cooker.] 👍

I’m so upset with myself. I’m currently cooking this for dinner and I was right in the middle of the 2 minute pressure cook when I realized I mistakenly left out the rice! 😢😭 So I let it finish and I did a 1 minute natural release then immediate release. I pulled out the meat and onion, left the juice/broth and added the rice to my ninja. I am now pressure cooking the rice for 6 minutes and praying it turns out okay. 😫 I’ll add the meat & onions back once the rice is done and then continue with the remaining directions but I’m so upset. I hope it still turns out okay.

I felt so bad for not sending an update, and I've been wanting to let you know how it tuned out. 🙂 So here is what happened... I'm still brand new to pressure cooking so when I mistakenly left the rice out that night, I was so bummed out! I didn't want to give up, so I did a quick Google search on how long to pressure cook parboiled rice and decided to go with 6 minutes. I then pulled out the meat and onion, left the juice/broth and added the rice to my ninja, parboiled for 6 minutes and from there I simply picked up where I left off. I continued with a 5 minutes natural release, added my ingredients back to the pot and continued with your video and oh my goodness it turned out absolutely AMAZING!! Thank you so much for everything, for taking the time to research & create this wonderful dish, and for your quick response! I truly appreciate it. 😊

your nutrition information is off by a lot. I've put it into 2 differnt programs and the salt alone is 1,000mg as compared to your 507, calroies are 620 as compared to your 557, carbs are 60 as compared to your 39 i mean are you lying to make it healthier then it really is or what?
@TheSaltedPepper3 жыл бұрын
Of course I'm not intentionally misleading anyone. My goodness. That's simply ludicrous. Nutritional values are very subjective because of the various brands of ingredients you use. I use a program to calculate them unless I'm using a specific ingredient which I enter based on the product packaging. When you are inputting the ingredients into your programs, make sure you are comparing apples to apples. For example: Table salt has about 2,300 mg of sodium per tsp Fine grind sea salt has about 2,000 mg of sodium per tsp because less salt crystals fit in the measuring spoon. If you used 1 ½ tsp of table salt for your calculations you would end up with having about 431 mg of sodium per serving. There are 8 servings in this recipe and I used 1 ½ tsp of fine grind sea salt which is about 375mg of sodium per serving. I’m happy to take another look at the nutritional calculations for that recipe and see if there are any errors, but I assure you if any errors exist, they are certainly not intentional.
