I like that the man keeps it simple. Hosts on other clips are always trying sell these gadgets as the ultimate answer. The chef here does it quick, concise & manages to show viewer a simple item that can be cooked with the little machine. I didn't remember him saying at any time this was absolute anything or represent it as authentic anything, try to lighten up folks. Thanks for a good video chef, I just subscribed.

Even if it's as far from authentic larb as a Chicago deep-dish is from pizza marinara from Naples, it's still tasty.
@johnwang991410 ай бұрын
I'd be tempted to run with just the meat in it with some spices to brown it a bit to get the Meyer reaction going, then dump in the vegetables. Perhaps the meatball cycle for the meat followed by the wok or international cycle for after the veggies have been added or just add more time to the previous cycle and there's always just using the french fries cycle for everything.

For those who are so adamant that the dish here is NOT Larb, cut the guy some slack. After checking some sources, your right it's not authentic, BUT it does use several of the key ingredients found in authentic Laotian/Thai Larb. The point of this video is the ActiFry not the cuisine. He is trying to demonstrate that it is good for more than French Fries/Chips which would make it an expensive one trick pony. Clearly if you were all about authenticity you would not be using the ActFry. The point is the ease and convenience of the device. As for the use of a metal spoon, the interior is the more durable ceramic and what does he care, the pan's not his anyway.For the pronunciation critic who claims he is saying "ActiveFry", the V is labial/dental sound and would be very difficult to distinguish, and I don't hear it. I have no relationship with this guy but the internet pile-on of negativity and criticism is unnecessary.

+Initial D the thing about Thai's, is that if food is not cooked by a Thai, it isn't Thai. So if a Thai was making a big mac, it would be Thai Big Mac. If a white person made that Big Mac, well, then, it wouldn't be Thai.

it really doesnt matter what the recipe is you could still make larb with the correct ingredients and seasonings in the actifry. you dont have to follow tfal recipes to use the product. its the concept that is the point in my opinion.
@vintage3110 жыл бұрын
Except that it would take less than half the time to make it correctly. I'm not talking about that - I'm talking about a once fascinating chef stooping this low - making something and calling it larb when it bears absolutely no resemblance to larb (or laab). I'm just saying that Ming, with his overdone and phony enthusiasm should know better - and probably does. I guess he needs the money.

It's classier to change a brand name to avoid getting sued. :D Teflon wasn't happy about Tefal arriving in the U.S. so they filed a threat to sue that the name Tefal was too similar to their name, Teflon. Hence, Tefal is known as T-Fal in the US only.

Dear Chef Ming Tsai, There is absolutely no excuse for not doing your research on larb especially since you consider yourself a chef. Larb is a traditional Lao dish as it was invented in the country Laos by the Lao people. Thailand was simply influenced by Lao cuisine since Thailand is next to Laos. Larb is the national dish of Laos.
