This is a very good information in the way it helps one understand the whole picture of how the body functions and how to read a diagnosis. It makes good sense . At the same time , Dr. Fuhrman also explains that as we get old , the efficiency in the way our body converts omega 3 from ALA to DHA& EPA deminishes thus in studying the over 60 vegans, he observed most plant based seniors ( the forefathers of the plant food people ) had parkensen dementia… caused by low DHA/ EPA deficiency. So now, Dr. Rick was talking about the lab results of people in people below the age of 70. Did he also collect data’s from healthy vegan seniors and see if indeed their blood work falling in the catagory that’s within the range accounting for all the diagnosis he considered - thank you. This was very educational and gives you great perspectful in considering all the above facts. Thank you

I take Future Kind vegan omega-3 from Algal oil. One soft gel provides algal oil 500 mg, omega 6 fatty acids 20 mg, omega-3 fatty acids 275 mg, EPA 75 mg DHA 150 mg. It has a delightful citrus aroma, even though there are no citrus ingredients.

We need to acknowledge that we are all different. I was vegetarian for about 30 years and then vegan since 2012. When I went on wholefood plant based diet 12 months ago I became unwell. My herpes came out first time after over 10 years no showing, my psoriasis raised its ugly head again to the point of coming out on my eye lids, lips and lower face. I never had it so bad, it always flared up on my scalp and I was controlling it with dairy free, nuts free diet since I was a teenager. So I started to look closely at what my body was telling me and healthy grains harm me because they contain gluten. Big amounts of seeds harm me because I have herpes since I was a child. My psoriatic arthritis came out first time in my life because of amount of nuts and seeds I was eating. So finally after 12 months of research I know that I cannot touch gluten, no matter how healthy it’s source. I cannot eat big amounts of seeds so take omega 3 vegan oil which Dr Klapper recommends. I take lysine to keep my herpes in check and multivitamins with B12 and am finally ok. I get annoyed that many vegan doctors don’t acknowledge that healthy wholefood plant diet is not the solution for everyone. For those who are just starting on their healthy path, yes, it is the improvement. For others, who already are healthy and trying to do better in their older years, it needs individual tweaking. May I add that white potatoes are healthy! If they were not, the whole of Northern Europe would be struggling health wise. Boiled, steamed and baked, and not prepared the American way as fries.

Dr Greger mentions that there's only three things people don't have allergies to and that's sweet potatoes, tapioca and water. My husband has issues with garlic, onions, oats, peppers .... he gets gout if he eats too much lentils. I wish there was more dieticians advice for people with food intolerances and how to either know what they are, why and is there a way to include them.

People needs can often be individual in regards to current health, labs & history. I believe Dr Dina addresses this in the lecture in a example of understanding and reviewing ones labs for their omega’s ratio.

is the total amount of fat i consume irrelevant for converting to dha as long as the omega 6 to 3 ratio is great (below 4:1) ? i suspect low-fat helps with something like insulin which also helps the conversion and therefore i should consume also low-fat to convert well enough besides haveing a great ratio.

So, as a vegan male in my 60's do I need to supplement with DHA? Sustained a brain injury eight years ago, and concerned about brain health as I age. DHA supplementation or not?
