OMG - I think this is the first interview I've watched with Dr. Rick Dina. I loved his presentation and the interaction between Chef AJ and Dr. Rick. That sample menu looked delicious! He put things into perspective in such a clear and concise way. THANK YOU.

If you develop a relationship with your nearest fruit wholesaler and you’re spending money there, they’ll sometimes agree to hold a few cases of bananas for your you and not gas them. The bananas go into a gas chamber and get gassed with a corn-based gas to make them ripen really fast. Without that gas, they take weeks to ripen. I bought all my bananas for a wholesaler I drove by on the regular in Shreveport, LA years ago. They hooked it up. That was before I was a McDougall Disciple 👊🏼

Just heard the discussion about bananas and the wish for some way to ripen them slowly. Well, if one breaks apart the bunch and stores them separately far apart they ripen more slowly. Kept together as a bunch or close together even if not joined in a bunch they ripen faster. Also, to ripen slower they should be kept in an open space, indoors of course, like on a counter not in a cupboard or compartment like space closed on the sides and top, open only in front.

Re the mis-information that fruit causes cancer: who is overeating fruit in our society? I only see people either over-consuming junk food, animal products, sugary drinks, alcohol or smoking at risk for developing cancer. Thank you Dr Rick for all your practical, science based information. I always learn so much from your presentations. ❤

Glad to find out of the benefits of romaine, which I can tolerate better. I would recommend for anyone wanting to get an omega 3 index through a blood draw, I ordered mine through Ulta Labs for $44.00. It was drawn at Quest and the report was comprehensive. My 3:6 index was optimal, but my 6 was a little on the low side. My lipids just done were great after a high triglyceride result with a finger stick. I will not rely on finger sticks any longer.

So informative and inspiring with very basic and y’et very nuanced explanation on a lot of important questions such as e.g. to keep a god balance of omega 3 dating a lot of green leaves and lowering the intake of omega 6 🙏🎶💚🎵

Does Dr. Rick Dina take patients? I want a doctor who understands the raw vegan/vegan biology. My doctor thinks I’m a little crazy for being vegan. I got the “Where do you get your protein?” question. 😂 Thank you, Chef AJ!! You have been part of my vegan journey from almost the beginning. I’m going on 13 years as a vegan, but have recently transitioned to raw, and low and behold your content is right there to walk me through some of the learning curves. 😀🙏🐾💕

I am relieved to hear him say that plant fats are not deadly. Even T. Colin Campbell was on a video saying he's tired of people obsessing about macros and that as long as you are eating a quality WFPB diet, move on with life.

I totally understand his attitude of "meeting people where they are" to get them eating better. I do wish I knew if I'm an ALA to DHA converter or not. I should probably get my level of DHA checked. Unbeknownst to me, the feet/ankles/lower legs edema problems I had for years was due to being low in vitamin D. Once I added 5,000+ IUs per day, it went away. I had been taking a little for decades in my multivitamins, but clearly not enough. I suspect it is part of the reason I have osteoporosis.

It seems to be a lot of good food. Healthy doesn’t mean good for all of us. I appreciate though the list of these whole food. Eating less is also a good idea to help the body go to autophagy.

Nothing that is grown today, probably resemles the food we are way back then. So I think eating fruits and veggies are still the best I can feed my body!

Can you over eat spinach? Dr Goldner says to have a pound a day to start but I think she recommends more as you get used to it. Is there a toxicity level to avoid?

I cannot tolerate that amount of cruciferous vegetables at one time and if I only have a fruit and vegetable smoothie for breakfast, I am still hungry and starting snacking on extra grains. After a romaine lettuce, banana and soy milk smoothie this morning, I still had some kamut flakes with soy yogurt, blueberries, flax, chia and walnuts. Then snacked on a couple banana oat cookies and still only slightly over 500 calories. I might add that weight loss has not been a goal for me, but rather gain.

I’ve been watching several videos with amazing Content and no one has ever addressed smoothie recipes and how they may influence blood sugars in someone with pre-diabetes or diabetes. Is this something we must be concerned about. I watch or just recently discovered Dr Brooke Goldner who advocates 75% greens and only 25% fruit. But is this combination still risky and influence blood sugar levels? Any comments or thoughts from the community? Also, when you roast nuts or soak them, don’t you release more of the minerals so they become bio available? The more videos are you seem to watch the more conflicting information we get. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Raw greens, with the exception of lettuce, are very rough to digest and many benefits are not bioavailable until they are cooked. Smoothies in the morning also difficult on the body unless digestion is very strong. Better than steak and eggs though!
