We made this Butternut Squash Bisque yesterday. It looked fabulous, had a smooth silky texture and deep roasted flavor. The best we have ever tasted. We didn't have a boat motor so we used our blender. We love all your tips and especially the one about flavorings should be in the background. Thank you so much.

I always liked cooking but my wife was an excellent cook so I rarely did it. Sadly, she passed away a few months ago and my great solace now is to prepare my own food. I have become something of an "anorak" and eat up more cooking videaos than I do food!! I have just seen the JP video for making Butternut squash bisque. Magnificent!!!! It puts all of these rather pretentious, fussy, self important online chefs into true perspective. So inspiring !!! I am 73 years old and, after seeing that, wish I was 23 and just starting out on a career in food. Hey hoe... I will just do it to please myself and with renewed confidence having watched the JP video. Thank you Chef. You have made my day.

I’ve loved Butternut Squash soup for around 40 years. I’ve cooked it myself for the past 20 years. Never thought of *peeling* the squash. It was fun to try, and much less dangerous than a big chef’s knife! I don’t add syrup or sugar to my soup (not any more, anyway). I taste it, and if it isn’t sweet enough, I cook for another 10-15 minutes. The squash gets much sweeter!

I like you talking through the instruction as well. As an instructor myself (different topic) I am clear that humans learn best by demonstration accompanied by explanation that includes context. Talk on!

We made this for dinner tonight and it was sooo good. I never had Butternut squash soup before this and now I am afraid no one else's will compare. I didn't have any sherry on hand so I used more bourbon and it definitely gave you that warm feeling. Measure carefully lol. I made the topping with a little Tobasco and it really brought the whole soup together. The whole dish tastes exactly like autumn and I'm definitely going to hang on to this recipe. Thanks Chef! Also, something I wasn't expecting was the squash releasing a really sticky sap on my hand as I was cutting. I had to wash my hands about 5 times to get it off. If you decide to make this recipe and didn't know about this, here's your warning!

I remember watching this three years ago. I've watched it again, and again, in the past three years many times. Why do I do that? Simple. You motivate me, and help me realize, that even I can make this delicious soup! Thank you, dear Chef. I love your channel.

Yeah! I did it...I cannot believe it but I did it...and it was simply scrumptious. I added one sweet potato and three carrots. No bacon, I had none in the fridge. I substituted cognac for whisky. No sherry. Chef Jean Pierre said it was not rocket science, it was just a soup..so I listened to him and got creative. Bon Appetit a tous.
