Blasting cabinet / stinky fuel tank hideout. What a useful item!

Don't kick yourself too much over that broken fitting Tush. I can see that happening to anyone, no matter how much care you take. It could have been weak to begin with and better to break now vs. while in service. Motor on!

That is a real shame and I guess a typical modern component problem, I hope the new part arrives soon as the irritation with it will just keep growing... kind regards, Richard.

I have been getting calls from a company to rent my 2004 BMW R1150RT out. I have not thought about it, but even at $100 a day, wear and tear on tires, brakes, oil changes, plugs, plus the liability and possible loss (or even getting sued) not sure that is worth the risk and effort. I do my own maintenance but still stuff is expensive.

It happens, David. Don't be too hard on yourself. If you really want to stay on schedule, I'd be surprised if you can't find that pump locally, somewhere.

I notice one of the other BMW mechanics on KZbin who works pretty much exclusively on boxers uses rubbing alcohol for loosening and replacing hose lines. It seems to do the trick. He uses a copper paste on threads for ease of removal the next time they require attention. Especially exhaust fasteners that tend to rust up.

Hi George, yes I have been watching Chris Harris as well. I have seen him use the rubbing alcohol on things like the tubing for the throttle bodies etc to help them slide back. And yes, I am using antiseize compound when I put my fasteners back in as well. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I feel for you, been there with some cooling hoses on a BMW 328i. BMW is getting a bad reputation for using plastic that is prone to early failure or breakage.

Bummer. Oh well, just call it job security. The R11 50RT will ride again though!

Aw man, that stinks. I was going to comment "that did not look like fun" before I got to the end. Then it REALLY did not look like fun.

I commiserate with you on snapping that fitting! Who of us has that not happened to? I'd wager even the BMW techs in their white coats have tweaked a few! Good thing the tank is carefully wrapped. It may spend a few more nights out there. PS What's a favorite summertime recipe? Care to share?

Hmmm, summertime to me means BBQ mostly...how about my famous Rib recipe?

YELLOW LIGHT ON THE FUEL TANK PANEL IS ALWAYS ON WHAT IT MAY BE, THIS IS MARKING FUEL LEVEL ON THE PANEL BUT EVEN FULL LIGHT TANK IS ALWAYS ON.

The Float Could be stuck or fouled on something inside of the tank or the float or sending unit could be faulty as well.

How do they run power into that area without a big bang happening !
@claudiosoares22443 жыл бұрын
on the panel along with the temperature marker it has a level marker and it is working well, for this reason I ask you, what makes the tank light on the panel is the float rod, if it is because it is working well, the level marker and the light reserve tank is always on?

I can totally see that happening to me. I didnt like the corrugated hose seems that would add to the complexity. Did you have to trim on the corrugated side?
@cheftush3 жыл бұрын
I just trimmed either side of the corrugated part leaving enough of the plain area to slide over the fittings.

@@cheftush are you talking about me? Did my brother tell you about that? It was just a pocket watch. Of course it was his pocket watch, but in my defense I was only nine.
@dennisbranam38474 жыл бұрын
I could be a lot worse, Les could have torn it down in your shop. Had a friends 57 Chevy wagon parked in my shop yard for over 3 years. It's still not restored, but it's all in pieces.
