Thank you! Another tip for clearing fuel pressure from the lines before removing the injector(s): Use the 9-volt battery to open the injector until no more fuel comes out of the pintle. No need to tie off the fuel lines that way :)

I liked that test set up using a 9V battery. I recently bought a smaller fuel injected bike with low mileage from a neighbor that was moving. The bike had sat in his garage for over a year with gas in the tank. It would turn over, but wouldn't crank. Since the gas smelled foul, I removed the tank, added fresh gas, and changed the fuel filter. The old gas was yellow colored. Since I don't have any experience in cleaning the fuel injected system, I took it a mechanic that services racing bikes and also owns a bike with an engine identical to mine. He told me he thought the main injector was clogged. I'm sure he'll run other tests to make sure the fuel moves freely. Nice to see a video of step one.

Thank you for showing us how to make the injector cleaning tool. Worked great! Would have been nice if you had mentioned the syringe and tube size to save some running back & fourth to the hardware store, but still grateful either way.

Have a 1981 Kawasaki GPZ 1100 that I left with gas in the lines for a year (yea I know). Had to remove them because only one cylinder plug was wet when I tried to start the bike. Sent them to a company In Lake Havasu, Az. After unsticking 3 of them, they cleaned them all up, put new parts on them and got them flowing equally. Best 90 bucks spent.

One thing you can do is test the amount of fuel each injector is throwing by putting a cup below. That way you can test if there is a difference in flow besides the pattern. Thanks for sharing the video

Good info, Doug. I was confused around 5:00 when you tak about the differences in spray patterns between the two injectors. It looked like you only tested the left side twice...?

hi .. my honda cbr 945 2003 gets too hot it damaged the exhaust tree may any one hellp me I use car oil 20w50 could this be the reason for over heating and what oil should I use

If you are looking to replace the O-rings, any O-rings around fuel, try to find a good O-ring company. I have one near me, and they can match up any kind of O-ring, and they have black, or a brown O-ring. The brown are resistant to today's alcohol fuel. Get brown ones.

I have two questions. Did you replace both the upper and lower o-ring with the same o-ring size from Fel-Pro? Instead of using a 9-volt battery can I use a 12 volt trickle charger?

You actually want to back feed them. Because doing it this way will not clean out any larger particles that won’t fit through the screen

Just to let you know there is a micro filter in the inlet of injector but you need a special tool to remove I had mine clean about a year ago thumbs up

dwmfty If I did that on my LT most of the bike would have to be ripped down just to get to the injectors. Turning this into a huge job. Well I guess this winter Im doing it...

Hi there the filter is actually in the inlet of the injector itself so you need like a micro tool to remove the micro filter it's a 10 second job when it's out but you need to see a injection specialist to remove for you

Hello, Thank you for your videos. For the cleaning of the injector, mention that 9 volts is used, is the motorcycle battery not supplied with 12 volts? If we supply with 12 volts, will there be a problem? Thanks.

Ok - after cleaning the injectors and replacing the fuel filter (lots of carbon found in that thing!) - I reassembled and hear the pump turn on and it sprays fuel from the unconnected lines... However the bike did not start right up (after connecting the lines back up). I disconnected the return line - and after turning on and off a few times and even cranking - no fuel came out 😞 - I also noticed no voltage at the fuel injectors! (this was a running bike before I started). What am I missing? (even swapped the horn/fuel pump relay and triple checked all the fuses).

I dont think Acetone will do much and may attack the plastic parts. Try lacquer thinner

You really need to be using motorcycle oil in that. You will ruin your clutch if you havent already. As to the overheating, are you sure it is? Discoloration on the exhaust is pretty normal.

You may want to do a bit of research before you post. Transmission is separate from engine. Also nothing wrong with using car oil in motorcycle. Just read the requirements in your owners manual. I have been using diesel oil in my bikes for thirty years. Many at the track. No issues, ever

Hi there. Why didn't you just use some fuel injection cleaner like seafoam, Redex etc in the tank and run that through the lines. It would have cleaned the whole system without having to take the bike apart. ?

I have an '99 R1100RT that has been sitting for a while (years). I've gone through draining the tank and adding some new fuel and a few other things with the brake lines. When i put the bike in neutral and prepare it to start, It doesn't want to turn over, choke full start. I've noticed that that the noise at 3:45 doesn't happen. (forgive me, i don't know what that sound indicates) I can hear what sounds like a little clicking noise, like it's trying to generate, but nothing. I also have a 1150GS, so i know that sound on those oilheads should happen before you press "Start". I'm wondering if you can indicate what that noise is supposed to be, so i can begin researching further. Thanks a lot, your videos have helped me a ton.

@@kirksmotorrad You are totally right, i researched further and that lead me to that. So if i don't hear that fuel pump pressure noise and i have verified that the relays are working, (Swapped the horn with it) and back, Still no fuel pump pressure. My next step was to check the wiring to the fuel pump to see if something there is causing it to not activate. I'd hate to rip out the fuel pump, before testing other things. Perhaps the battery is too weak to kick on the fuel pump pressure with i activate the kill switch.

Derek, I have a '99 RT also. Plus a few others. The clicking you hear may be the starter solenoid clicking indicating a very low battery. That would also account for the "doesn't want to turn over". The "choke" lever is only a fast idle lever. These bikes are fuel injected so chokes do not work with them. The fuel mix is governed entirely by the ECM. If you have an AGM type battery (Odyssey PC680, or other AGM - sealed battery) you need an AGM rated charger. BatteryMINDer (different from BatteryTINDER) has approved AGM rated chargers on Amazon. Try charging the battery and trying again. I hope your fuel is still OK. The ethanol will gum up over time and may require the injectors be cleaned. Get a bottle of Techron and add to the tank with some fresh fuel, too. I do this regularly, cars and bikes, and it works.
