I love your videos I just ran acrossed you. I have a four year old daughter she is mixed African American and white. And her hair texture is just like yours except a lot thinner. And I was definitely doing all the do not’s. I now realize why I can never keep her hairs curl defined and frizz free for longer than 30 minutes after her shower or when I’m just trying to style and go. Thank you thank you thank you

I never would have tried your technique if I had not seen how your hair looks air dried with nothing in it. I would've thought it's your "grade" of hair that it could look so frizz free. But now I'm using the same products (except the gel. I use a gel that doesn't crunch). And my hair results looks identical to yours! Thank you!

Thank God for this video. Cause i hate seen curly girls putting product in their DRY hair and that is a big NO NO. Plus they dont even section their hair and that is another NO NO. When you have a CURLY head YOU need to moisturize every single strand of hair if you want definition or no frizz. Thank you for this video CHELLY

This really helped me to see the proper way to apply products to curly washed hair. Sadly, I’ve been doing it the rushed way all along . Maybe that’s why my hair is always frizzy. Thanks so much for modeling both the correct and incorrect ways of doing this . It gave me a much clearer understanding of correct product usage .

WOW. thank you so much for posting this! Hands down the best tutorial I've seen on KZbin. I really appreciated the steps and actual explanations of why things don't work. Same. I look back at some of my childhood pictures and I'm like dear lord. Why did you let me leave the house like that mom?! But then again we grew up in a time where no one really took the time to learn how to style curly hair because it wasn't as important as straight hair. Also, the product aisle was literally 1/4 of what it is now. I'm so happy the curly hair movement is here!

First, I just want to say "thank you" for your advice. I'm from a Mexican family (with a Black ancestor) and I'm the only one with curls. The right side of your hair (the hot mess lol) was my childhood, and the bad habits have prevailed into my adulthood. My grandpa regularly shaved his hair, so I only had my wavy-haired aunt. Their hair was never as thick or as curly as mine, so I had no mentors or figures to look up to. My mom tried her best, but she used to comb my hair while it was dry. My hair was frizzy, clumpy and always in my face. I had to learn how to do my hair on my own as a teenager, but obviously, no one was there to correct me. I went through a whole phase where I applied so much gel on the top of my head that my scalp was shaped like a helmet lol. Now I know that I have to take my time. My mother has a hard time understanding the concept of "taking forever to do my hair" and "using multiple products", but I feel like I need to cater to my hair. I have to say thank you for this video. I saw one of your MaskMonday videos and went on spree. In four hours, I learned styling tips I never knew existed and I'm just amazed by what little I knew up till now. I thought my hair was just WRONG. So I'm very thankful. I spent the whole day watching videos of your reviews and I'm just in awe. You're a lifesaver. Truly. (and I just checked the timestamp of the video and it's on my birthday! Spooky!)

Honestly I use this process to do my hair. And my curls are tighter that yours are and it still works. Brushing products through is much better than raking because you can distribute products much better which really helps with tangling and single strands knots.

This has been one of the most helpful curly hair videos I’ve seen on KZbin this far. This will help me a lot for second and third day hair! I have more wavy/curly hair than you do so i think i would probably have to use less product than you do but this whole technique is great advice!

One thing I do that DRAMATICALLY changed my wash and gos for life was adding conditioner to my spray bottle. That completely changed the game for me because when in did that I noticed a lot of the products that I was using just slipped right into my hair and my curling creams started foaming into my hair which made it super easy to define my curls and easy to apply. And I have 4c hair that I rarely comb 😂.

I've been lax on piecing out my hair when I wear it curly. I only did that when I straightened my hair. I figured it was mostly done. Also, I notice you typically put leave in, then styling cream, and sometimes you add in a gel product before final scrunching. I've been such a one-and-done and my hair ends up looking like finger waves with curls only spiraling slightly at the bottom. I recently got color done and I'm wondering if her cut also thinned out my hair because it's not as thick as it was but my hair sometimes looks big and sometimes looks super fine and thin. I am going to see a curl specialist on getting either cut or styling tips but these videos super help! Thanks again!

Glad I came across this video of yours last week Saturday night, but finished watching it this morning, since I plan to do my first 3-strand twist attempt on my 3c hair today. I can’t stand styling my hair when dry since adding more product on top of product gives me product buildup. I prefer to style my hair when freshly washed but not soaking wet which works for me. I will remember to apply product to my not soaking wet hair in small sections today while styling my low porosity (roots) to normal porosity (rest of my hair) hair in about 8 3-strand twists. I need to perfect my wash & go, and would the Denman brush work best for my 3c hair than using my fingers, Chelli?

@deeseddon47447 жыл бұрын
Just curious.... Do you mostly just use two products? A leave-in conditioner and a styler? Or do you use three products; a leave-in conditioner, styler, and gel? If so do you notice the difference between just using 2 or all 3? I usually use 3 but wonder if my curls would look softer with just the 2 (conditioner and styler). By the way, love your videos. So insightful.
