Can we normalize “average” lives? I live in LA and it has made me feel behind for no reason. Like I’m not excelling. But your vlogs are really helping me understand that life doesn’t always need to be expensive trips, grocery hauls, or parties every weekend to be interesting. Thank you Chelsea! 😊

When I turned 40, I went to University to study English Literature. When I turned 51, I quit my job and started a home business making cookies that I sell to cafe’s. Sometimes I do a market stall to sell said cookies, depending on how the wind blows and how big the electric bill is this quarter. My whole ‘average’ career/life I did art on the side. After work, weekends, holidays. It was my bliss! Until I realised that in order for me live my authentic self, I need to be doing art full time and everything else as the side. It’s important that when I flip on a light switch, it actually gives me light, so money is necessary, but I promise you, it comes. Just don’t overthink things. The thing about life is that it can be lived regardless of whether you’re single, married, de-facto, widowed, or in a throuple. There is no rule book that we all fit under. You do you! You are killing it! And it’s never too late to do things.

I totally relate to your feelings about work. I stayed in food service jobs for a longggg time because I was waiting to figure out what my dream job was. Being unemployed during the pandemic made me realize how much I simply do not care about work or having a career, so I just picked something that felt practical. Now I'm in grad school and just got my first job offer for a non food industry job and I'm so happy to be moving on to something new, even if it's not a dream job.

I've been subscribed a while, but this is first comment I've left on your channel. I really enjoy your "ordinary" videos Chelsea as well as your quirky personality. i am a lot older than you, but can identify with you speaking about not feeling fulfilled by your job but by things outside your job. I had that for most of my working life. It is so important to look for meaning elsewhere, and it seems that you are doing that! You go girl!

Yesterday I washed my bedsheets, and that literally made me so happy😂😂👏 Also it rained for 8 hours today and rainy weather makes me so happy so i enjoyed the clouds and noise rain makes today. chelsea!! I always appreciate your candor! I'm a fellow young adult living in nyc working remotely... and it gets lonely. I'm glad youre showing the nuances of living alone in the big apple, because we know it's not always as great as it's romanticized to be. Happy to see an average, normal life represented because so many influencers do not make that same impression to the world! keep doing you girl
@DomoinaYoga1976 Жыл бұрын
Yes! "Normal" lives need to be more celebrated and embraced. Normal can be/is enjoyable, fulfilling, and special because we make it that way. I think I live a "normal" life... and like you, I have always struggled to find meaning in my full-time work - except my side gig which is a passion. I always found the "living" to be outside of my work life, still to this day. And good on you! for not waiting for a partner to "live" and experience more things in life - you are such a strong, young woman! I have also had my heart broken, many times, including one divorce, so I've learned that life is meant to be lived - whether with or without a partner - it is up to us to live our life fully regardless of the relationship-circumstance. Thank you so much for your videos... Can't wait for the next one! 😃💓

there is something so cozy to me about winding down in your own quiet, and private place with a busy city whirling outside your walls. Idk why, but a calming apartment just hits different in a big city. Like, so much can be going on outside, but you can have your apartment be as quiet as can be, because you have control of it. I guess you appreciate the comfort and solitude much more. I can vouch because I go to school in the city of philadelphia, and I enjoyed living in an apartment this year so much! I'll miss it, I made it so cozy and comfortable, and your apartment reminds me of mine so much!

I've been working from home since the beginning of the Pandemic and at first I hated it since I lived with toxic family, but now that my fiance and I have our own place, I LOVE it :) Also hated having to take NJ transit everyday, my commute was 3 trains and 1.5 hours ish each way before I started WFH

I've never found meaning or purpose from a job either. It has always just been an income to do other things. It's nice meeting people and working together on projects, but I always wondered "why do we do these things?" and feeling like a cog in the system. My bigger issue is that I struggle to find purpose/meaning outside of work too. I am in a bit of a down period right now though so everything feels hard and pointless and I'm trying to pull myself out of it with differing levels of success day to day. I also walk fast wherever I'm going, even if that is nowhere.

I workout when I get home after work, too -- doesn't it feel so amazing when you work from home and cut out that long ass commute? Now instead of rushing to get my workout in before dinner, I can relax and take my time. Question: would you say you are more productive at home, or in the office? Most people say (lie) that they get more done WFH, but I dunno. I find myself a lot more focused and able to just plow through a ton of crap if I'm at the office. At home, I'm too tempted to multi-task with my personal errands. Run to the grocery store, put a load in the downstairs laundry room before anyone else in the building hogs all the machines, or god forbid -- turn the tv on LOL! So yeah, it's probably best I stick to the office. :D
