The best advice I could give a newly self-employed person is that you should get a routine: wake up every day at the same time, eat at the same times as if you were working for a company, dress up every day and most of all, keep your house clean and clutter free... Kisses!!

Def voting for the big room to be your living room. I think it would change the flow of energy in the apartment and give you some space to have more of a foyer type space in that small area between all the rooms.

I was a university lecturer before making the jump into a FT author life. Now I write what I love and I have the best life. You are going to do great just as long as you give yourself 'thinking' breaks. It's too easy to let tasks that feel work-like fill the whole day. Creativity is like a sourdough starter. Give it time, some space of its own, and plenty of rest. (BTW, failure can be part of a good process -- I made a loss in my first year, and was glad of my savings. Each year since has been profitable in multiple ways.) My main advice: Enjoy!

I moved to RURAL Japan (closest town over 100,000 people was 2 hours away) without knowing anyone and having a tenuous grasp of the language at best. It was tough and I would do so many things different but I am so so so glad I did it. I made lifelong friends, grew massively as a person, and even met my husband there. Taking risks doesn't have to be all good or all bad, sometimes you can just be grateful that you did it.

That must've taken some serious "balls". Did you move alone ? And what exactly led you to moving out so far away ( I'm assuming you moved from the U.S ) ?
@deedeelong9043
@deedeelong9043 10 ай бұрын
@@naazahs9045 I actually moved from Canada but it's pretty much the same difference distance wise! I was alone personally but I was also working with a company that made sure I was set up with an apartment so I didn't navigate that on my own. I always told people I did it because it was a childhood dream but the truth is more that I needed a reset in my life. I started working professionally (think high rise office buildings, having "clients", that sort of thing) quite young and was burnt out by 24. I knew a bit of Japanese from high school classes so I decided to jump ship and give it a go.

I know most of you guys are already tired of hearing this and you're very much aware of the situation, but it still manages to baffle me when I hear that being unemployed or employed in a non-traditional job in the US makes you lose your right to be cured without going bankrupt. I'd be worried about going down a ramp of stairs or crossing the street knowing that I'm one slippery step away from owing tens of thousands to a hospital

You don’t have to be employed to have health insurance here but you lose the employer paying a portion of your premium as a benefit of working for them. In this country it’s offered as an employer paid benefit to add to your overall compensation. I don’t see what’s strange about that. Medical care is expensive and someone needs to pay for it. If people want to quit their jobs and do KZbin for a living they lose the benefits their company offered them. KZbin provides cash now but zero benefits. None. I don’t understand how people think it worth quitting their actual jobs for.

For all of you that think universal healthcare is so great, do your research. Believe me, you don’t want the government controlling your healthcare. The public system is in dire need of fixing but to think we should expect our government to support our whims and career changes is just nuts and perhaps VERY millennial. Where do you think the money comes from? It’s not free.

I worked for myself for 15 years in the creative field, you need to set some time aside for yourself everyday as you can easily burn yourself out again. I used to take a walk through my neighbourhood before I would start work everyday in the early mornings for about 30 to 45 mins, and then take another break in the afternoon for about 45-60 mins and get out of the house. You have to do this religiously, it helps break up your day and creatively it gives you a break and refreshes you.

It's an adjustment period so give yourself some grace. Establishing yourself takes time. I started over at 43--quit my job, sold my house, left my marriage, moved 500 miles away. Did it work out perfectly? NOPE! Am I glad I did it? 100%. If my only takeaway from it was proving to myself what I'm capable of ... well, that's enough for me. Also: loved the Sinatra-pancakes montage!

You already look like you have a huge weight lifted off you, it's a glow. I myself picked up my belongings 8 years ago and moved from Los Angeles to San Diego, it was scary leaving a place I always knew and didn't know ANYone here. Fast forward to today, it was the best decision I ever made. It is never perfect but life is so much better and the quality. I went from working in the Real Estate industry to a corporate job for a non-profit that I love and fortunately do not have the stress you did at yours. I have been following you for quite some time and love this for you. You truly embody a single gal with no kids, who is normal, not fake or trying to prove anything, being independent and making her way, and I relate to this fully. Being a 37 year old woman, it's refreshing. Thank you for continuing to make videos and be a light Chelsea. As you grow, make sure to start a PO Box so your followers can send you small gifts :) Cheers to growth, success and finding your happiness. PS, as a WFH gal myself, your space is EVERYthing, so make it cute, cozy and organized, it does wonders for your mental health.

Go rent a cabin at a KOA campground, take a roadtrip to Ohio, do anything to unwind before diving straight into the new life. This is not criticism but just meant to convey the importance of taking advantage of a break between two big points in life. Go shortie!

Don’t feel nervous about this new venture you’re on. The hardest part is already past and that’s the foundation you spend the precious three years building (knowing how to make your videos and obtaining a reasonable audience). It will only continue to grow from here! The fact that you’re at a point now where you can make ends meet just through your channel is a solid sign that you’re okay. Keep finding ways to grow your audience. Maybe it’s through algorithms or maybe it’s as much as updating cameras, editing, hand rigs, sound, or finding additional untapped markets or ideas. Routine segments that capture interests. Stuff like that. Because there are three aspects that keep your channel interesting: - Viewers want to know who YOU are; - Viewers want to know what it’s like to live in New York City; - And Viewers want to know ABOUT the city (places to visit, food to eat, culture, architecture, history, etc). Just keep finding ways to hit those points and you’ll be good!

Girl, you are giving yourself and your body space to recover from a grueling couple of years. If you had a little girl/daughter that was crushing it as HARD as you have been, for as LONG as you have been, you’d let her come home and sleep and eat and sleep some more. And then when it was time to get going again, you’d want her to do it intentionally, not compulsively. Rest and self-care baby, that’s what your daughter needs right now! Also, enjoy some good TV - binge watch some stuff.❤

I restarted this year as well. I quit my corporate job because I wasn’t happy. I didn’t have time and it caused anxiety. I needed to step out of my comfort zone and restart. I moved out and started working in retail. The money isn’t great and I work hard at weird hours. Though, I am much better. I have more time and no longer feel anxious. I wanna do something for myself, and grow within my new career. It’s still scary sometimes, but sometimes I get reminders that it was the right decision and you need to do what feels right for YOU. Sometimes, I get self conscious that people my age ( mid 30s) have it all figured out; they have high positions in fancy jobs, kids, properties and an amazing salary while I’m still figuring out my path and sometimes struggle to save. I try to not let those things get to me and just dance to my own rhythm of my unique song ( life). We all struggle, you will be ok ❤️

Please just be careful with the sponsorships, I'm giving you this feedback because I want to STAY subscribed :) Whenever I see these ultraexpensive supplements and people advertising them (while you could get them much cheaper) I really consider unsubscribing. Love your channel and congrats to leaving behind the corporate life!!

Hi there, my team and I carefully consider price point when deciding on sponsorships. Despite the higher cost, AG1 is a brand I have loved for awhile and one that I believe in. There’s never any pressure to watch my ads either, which is why I always include time stamps xx

It' so nice to see how happy you are! And give yourself time, being so burnt out doens't go away in a few days! It doesn't seem as extreme, but when I was in university I quit my 'sensible' major that made me miserable and burnt me out (which is a pretty big deal where I am from, because we have to decide what we want to study in advance and don't have any general classes). Instead I studied literature and religious sciences because I have always been interested in world religions and their impact on societies. I was really scared to never find a job, but now I have a very interesting one and I actually enjoyed university which I didn't before.

It's critical that you create a scheduled day for yourself and stick to it. Otherwise, you can find yourself easily lost and productivity and a sense of satisfaction will begin to slip away.

If your bird friend is a mourning dove, they are kind of stalkers. I had one who would hang out in the flower box on my outside bedroom window sill constantly, and then follow me around whenever I was outside. They mate for life and apparently if they lose their mate they can become very lonely and will sometimes imprint on a person or something. At least that's what someone told me. Basically, bird is lonely and wants to be your friend.

I’m so happy for you and this new adventure! I resonate greatly with your risk taking. I’m currently in school while working as a personal trainer with two teenage kids and just finished my first marathon. Talk about questioning my life choices 🤗Going back to school for a different career is scary and I’m still not sure if it’s the right thing to do. You have to do what scares you sometimes and it is rewarding to take on challenges whether they turn out like you thought or not. Also loved your race video and also liked your marathon playlist! Best of luck on your new adventure and I can’t wait to see your videos!!!!

1.5 years ago, at 39 yrs young, I left my 9-5 job to focus on my photography business and I wish I would’ve had the courage to do it a longggg time ago. Even if I someday I have to go back to a 9-5 job, I’m happy I took this risk. I’d hate to live with regrets.

I left my toxic job last September and took 6 weeks off to travel around Greece and around the US and to just REST!! It was SO IMPORTANT to recognize my burnout and the fact that I wasn’t sleeping, gained a ton of weight in a short period of time, my depression and anxiety were at an all-time high, and i was crying every day and to do something about it. I had no job lined up but luckily my family and friends supported me and that period of 4 months of unemployment led to my amazing job I have had now for 8 months and my health is dramatically improved. I have a balance, and I’m getting my health back in check. I’m so glad you did what was best for you and ran with it! Best wishes to you! 😊
