Also fun fact: my grandfather watched the Hindenburg explode) killing 73 out of 76 crew. Also while helium is non-flammable, it's also a SIGNIFICANTLY worse lifting gas than hydrogen. The disclaimer Gan read as Jan was completely ad-libbed. Want to say the original one for Episode 4 which was read by Ant doing the Dandy Man voice was also ad-libbed but to a much lesser degree. I’m glad that Party Party Party is going unmuted this time around (the visual overlay is well worth the payoffs, trust me). Very important we know where the party is at all times given the next few episodes after 4. Fact: Abridged Queen Elizabeth is voiced by someone from the original Ultimate dub cast. For legal reasons, Team Four Star cannot divulge who the voice actor is. Oh Abridged Van Winkle. A character who despite being so dated aged remarkably well though not in the way that the creators anticipated. Little behind the scenes joke: the guy who got the Portal reference is voiced by Purple Eyes, best known for starting “I’m at Soup”. References abound in his works. Meanwhile the guy who voiced the first guy (as in not Integra) who didn’t understand the reference was voiced by someone who was known for actively avoiding using referential humor in his work…before he became notorious for other reasons. We…don’t talk about him much as a result. These vampires follow Stoker rules, one of them being that vampires cannot cross running water (this includes the Atlantic ocean) without bringing their coffin containing soil from their place of birth. This is why Seras was in a coffin when going to Brazil (as for why she needed to be in the coffin and couldn’t be where Alucard and Pip were up top, long story short she’s still a human-vampire hybrid and hasn’t fully turned, wanting to retain her humanity). Alucard’s coffin was also in that cargo hold (you can see he brought it to Brazil in an official clip where he hypnotizes that hotel receptionist) just as it was in the Blackbird’s cargo (it did not blow up with the Blackbird; it’s made of sturdier stuff). Van Winkle similarly had hers in the copter that landed on the carrier. So now Alucard is stuck on a wrecked yet thankfully still floating Carrier, its engines are shot, and as we later find out no one is able to send out support to air lift him and his coffin out of there to get back to London in time. He has to use his own powers to slowly propel the carrier towards London. This is how the Major and Hirano upped the stakes, by taking the most powerful player in this game and taking him temporarily out of it as though he were Goku. It’s not just the one Zeppelin; it’s a fleet. You’ll notice that there’s no more Party Party Party starting with this episode. That’s because the party is wherever Alucard is, and Alucard isn’t in London. It’s kinda weird in hindsight that the Major says he doesn’t gamble with maybes. That last line from Sir Penwood is my favorite Little Kuribo’s read from Team Four Star after the end of Dragon Ball Z Abridged 24.

A film that was based on a real person and his arms dealing business, that the director and producers found to be too unrealistic until they found out buying real weapons to use as props was cheaper than creating props for the film, they also got a couple dozens of tanks for a drive by while the tanks where standing on parade display but had to rush it due to the fact that the arms dealer they rented the tanks from had sold them to Libya. They also rented a plane that they had difficulty filming with because the arms dealer who's plane it was, was still using it for his arms dealing business. The guy Nicolas cage's character was based on was even hired by the US military to smuggle in weapons for cheaper and faster to the US allies in Afghanistan than what the US military could, he was arrested in 2008 (If I recall correctly) in Bangkok and was sent to US prison for arms snuggling and was then traded by the Biden administration for a US woman's basketball player who had gotten caught in Russia with weed (super illegal in Russia) (people where angry that the arms dealer was traded for a basketball player who's publicly called American the worst nation on earth, while an former American soldier who was honey trapped and then arrested for espionage in Russia remained behind bars - the Russians even stated they where suprised that the Biden administration didn't ask about the former us soldier but rather only for the female basketball player) and he got immediately back to smuggling weapons for the Russian war in Ukraine.

I adore the backing music for the Major’s “I Love War” speech. It was composed by Gustav Holst in WWI, as part of a suite where each of the seven movements was based on one of the planets in our system, hence the name, “The Planets.” Each movement tries to convey the emotions Holst thought would be held by each planets namesake deity. This, in particular, was written for Mars, The Bringer of War; hence how rhythmic it is, mimicking the march of an army. I was First Tuba when I played this in high school, and had so much fucking fun every time we rehearsed it. Pushing myself to be able to drive the train faster and faster without double-tonging, until I was able to keep at a pace fast and steady enough for the other sections to not drag. And being able to just go full mezzo blasto in a couple parts of an already 7 minute piece was just the cherry on top. Sorry for the ramble, I just fucking love this song.

To answer the "why zeppelins?!" bit - to be completely fair, the Hindenburg only went kaboom because it was full of hydrogen. Thing is, the Hindenburg wasn't _supposed_ to have hydrogen, it was designed for *helium.* But this was 1937, Hitler was doing Hitler things, and the US (which was essentially the only country at the time that had spare helium to export) wasn't exporting helium to Germany (because Hitler was doing too many Hitler things). So they used hydrogen, and, well, kaboom. Point is, Maxwell knows better, and got helium... Probably.

25:30 oddly enough, the fix was beyond stupid, and we could make it almost impossible to do again even at the time First major issue with Zeppelin Technology was, while moving through the air dust and stuff bounce off the shell causing a buildup of static. Which, when it came into contact with a grounded object cause a massive shock which... The Hindenburg was covered in a conductive aluminum and iron oxide oil paint, which we later learn makes thermite... The thermite coated canvas shell was held together with large bolts and screws attached directly to the air frame usually in contact with the leather or waxed canvas hydrogen bladders.... Do to contact with screw, bolts, the wooden and metal frame and other things rubbing and cutting holes in the leather and fabric hydrogen bladders, fairly large holes would develop, causing the highly flammable hydrogen to build up and eventually/occasionally catch fire. The first fix is literally a bit of wire or cable about 6 to 20 feet with a feather type metal poof at the end, will dissipate any gathered static into the atmosphere, making a ground static spark almost impossible. Getting rid of wax coated thermite sheets in place of modern static resistant polymer sheets would pretty much work for that Replacing everything with aluminum and polymer frames, and modern safety protocols would drastically reduce the weight, round off the sharp bits, and allow for more room between the bladders reducing chafing And finally, even modern party balloons are more robust than the old bags, so I mean, some again, modern polymer nylon bags similar to the portable fire fighter 5000 gallon bags would probably work just fine. Net them with nylon cargo straps, nylon sheet caps, and run most the power off solar and lithium batteries and a modern Zeppelin not only would be safe, but giving the physical limits of flight for them, would be a neat way to being back Land Cruises

Hellsing Abridged is basically 15% Castlevania and 85% 'Archer' season 1-3.

According to Alucard's VA they had already made a couple episodes before they saw Archer Season 1 and started laughing at the likeness, probably helped refine the character going forward

you have to remember that goodyear only has 4 blimps in total as well, they're super rare to see unless you're in a specific area. Also those are like the only blimps in existence now (for the most part) so basically nowhere ever sees blimps anymore

Yes Schrödinger is a cat/boy and his power is that he is omnipresent He both exists and doesn't exist in all times and all places, so long as he can observe himself

18:04 Based on this line, we can deduce thar the abridged version happened around 2007. The anime, however, took place in 1999ish.
