Every Paintwork is Unique. Even in a specific manufacturer, the paint can differ from model to model. Every paintwork requires a "Test Spot" to ensure you have a proper combination. I would recommend to start with V36 and an orange pad as a baseline then adjust the pad or polish accordingly to achieve the desired results. -Greg@CG

@ChemicalGuys Жыл бұрын
That's correct!
@ChemicalGuys12 жыл бұрын
Try using less polish. It seems like maybe you are using a little too much. You should only use 5 small dots for each section. You can always add more polish to the pad if you didnt add enough but it is much more difficult to remove polish. Once your pad gets saturate with "spent" polish, you need to clean the pad using a pad cleaning brush or a Pad Washer. I personally prefer the Pad Washer because its gets the pads VERY clean with little effort. -Greg@CG.

I Keep seeing all these different color pads (with no continuity between different manufacturers) and no one answers the basic question: Are the pads abrasive-infused with different size grits or are the pads simply different durometers / stiffness?
@ChemicalGuys7 жыл бұрын
Hi Hal, this is a trifling question indeed, I actually found a really detailed article on the subject that I think will answer many of your questions, and it will teach me a thing or too about pads as well. The simple answer is the stiffness of the pad and the density of the foam, however I'll take a seat back and allow the article to more accurately describe what's actually happening. www.ereplacementparts.com/article/2663/Abrasives_Polishing_Pads.html C.G. I have a 1986 classic car 🚗 with original paint. It sat in a garage for a number of years before I bought it and the owner told me something must have dripped on the top of the car while it was storage. It looks almost like water stains, but it’s not. A friend came by with his D.A. polisher, but it only removed the haze in the finish, the marks or swirls still remain. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated as I would really like to save the paint as the car 33 years old and all original. Thanks in advance!

If time is not a problem and I have all the products, should I do a 2-3 step polish and finish with V38? I am asking because sometimes I see that you stop at V36 and was wondering if you stop there because the V38 would be overkill? Also I have a white 2013 volkswagen jetta and was wondering if that paint is considered ''hard'' or ''soft''? I tried V36 with an orange hex pad and it removed about 20% of the swirls. Should I try V34 or even V32 with an orange pad? I am affraid to go to aggresive. I have the torq 10FX and use it on speed 5
@brandonkapana24538 жыл бұрын
try sticking with the V36/VSS but switch over to the mircofiber pad. If that doesnt work u can switch over to a 34 with a yellow pad, and if that doesnt work then switch back over to a microfiber pad again and so forth. Just work your way down from least aggressive in pads and compounds. You'll see that there are many different combinations that could get the job done! hope this helps.

Thanks for checking out the video! I've included a link to the hex pad page of our site which outlines all the uses for the different polishing pads, I've also included a description of the orange pad which would be the best choice for you based on the amount of scratches and swirls in your car's paint. Orange Medium-Heavy Cutting Pad-This firm, high density foam is ideal for scratch and defect removal. The orange foam offers the correction of a typical compounding pad while at the same time allowing the polishing ability of light cut foam pad. When used with heavier compounds it will remove moderate swirls and scratches with little or no haze. Its an all around pad that will work on most light to moderate imperfections. www.chemicalguys.com/Hex_Logic_7_5_Buffing_Pad_Kit_p/buf_hexkits_9da.htm

Hi! We always recommend starting on a test spot with V36 and an Orange Pad and then adjusting from there. Wax will not remove any scratches and is a final step in the detailing process. When you get to that step, you can use a cream wax like Butter Wet Wax (my favorite), which is super easy and fast to apply, or you can go with a traditional paste wax such as Pete's 53. I'm going to link an article about how to choose the proper pad, compound, and polish for your car. It will lay out each step you need to take to figure out exactly what products are right for your car. I will also link Butter Wet Wax, Pete's 53, and the detailing flow chart below so you can see all the steps to a full detail in their proper order. I was thinking of using the orange pad with vss. What would work best to remove the black residue on my exhaust tips?

Hey there! VSS will work well with an Orange Hex-Logic Pad. Check out Light Metal Polish and the Ball Buster Drill Attachment to restore exhaust tips. - CG Nick

@@ChemicalGuys My plan come spring is 1. Orange pad and vss 2. White pad and light polish 3. Blue pad and Mirror shine 4. Black pad and jet seal 5. Red pad and butter wet wax You think this will work?

What if I wanna use the All in One Polish from CG with only one pad? What pad should I use? My car’s paint is not too bad. Thanks

Hey! Try using an Orange Hex-Logic Pad to remove swirls and scratches while refining the finish.

I have some 7075 aluminum I want to polish and have all hexlogic pads including the compound pack that's often sold with it. After rough sanding with 80 to remove machining marks, which pad and compound would be recommended?
