Hex-Logic Polishing / Buffing Pads:
bit.ly/3N26Nqo
Engineered, developed and tested to specific requirements of our OEM clients. These pads utilize the best foams from around the world and the latest of testing and research and development including Chemical Guys own Self Centered backing system!
The Hexagon is not new to science, it's just new to detailing. Rather then try to reinvent some catchy gimmick, Chemical Guys invests in technology that through the years has simply been unbeatable and improves on it. Hex-Logic pads are designed to hold product and distribute it evenly over the surface of the pad, delivering a superior even finish that is hard to achieve with any other pad.
Nature selected the Hexagon for storage and designed it to be one of the most efficient holding cells. For example a mass of hexagonal wax cells built by honey bees in their nests to store honey and pollen. The bees build the comb with 6 sides for even distribution of product fast and effectively.

If polishing is used to bring out shine and remove scratches, and there are harder pads that u can use, why do u use “compound”? Also... is green and orange pads for compounding and the ones on the bottom for polishing?

Every Paintwork is Unique. Even in a specific manufacturer, the paint can differ from model to model. Every paintwork requires a "Test Spot" to ensure you have a proper combination. I would recommend to start with V36 and an orange pad as a baseline then adjust the pad or polish accordingly to achieve the desired results. -Greg@CG

Using the right pad is important as you do not want the incorrectly use a pad not suitable for a particular and demanding job and ruin a car's paint worth several thousands of dollars. Its illuminating and enjoyed it very much.

Try using less polish. It seems like maybe you are using a little too much. You should only use 5 small dots for each section. You can always add more polish to the pad if you didnt add enough but it is much more difficult to remove polish. Once your pad gets saturate with "spent" polish, you need to clean the pad using a pad cleaning brush or a Pad Washer. I personally prefer the Pad Washer because its gets the pads VERY clean with little effort. -Greg@CG.

I was wondering if I was using my microfiber correctly. Glad I'm using for final polish. I thought it was maybe cutting like wool. Turns out I need wool for an agro cutting pad. My pads are cheaper and different via Amazon, but this was helpful. I definitely see the value in chem guys pads also, which might make me purchase in future once I learn basics with my vehicles

Hey guys, Love the videos! I just got myself a Porter Cable DA, and I'm excited to get started detailing! I'm currently working on a 2001 Subaru, and the Orange, Green then White is working really well! But I'm moving onto a 2013 Hyundai Veloster, and its simply just swirls and mildew. I don't know which cutting pad to select, as this paint is thinner than the subie and from my knowledge a soft paint and I don't want to cut too much out/cut down to paint. Have any tips or recommendations?

I have a 1986 classic car 🚗 with original paint. It sat in a garage for a number of years before I bought it and the owner told me something must have dripped on the top of the car while it was storage. It looks almost like water stains, but it’s not. A friend came by with his D.A. polisher, but it only removed the haze in the finish, the marks or swirls still remain. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated as I would really like to save the paint as the car 33 years old and all original. Thanks in advance!

I Keep seeing all these different color pads (with no continuity between different manufacturers) and no one answers the basic question: Are the pads abrasive-infused with different size grits or are the pads simply different durometers / stiffness?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Hal, this is a trifling question indeed, I actually found a really detailed article on the subject that I think will answer many of your questions, and it will teach me a thing or too about pads as well. The simple answer is the stiffness of the pad and the density of the foam, however I'll take a seat back and allow the article to more accurately describe what's actually happening. www.ereplacementparts.com/article/2663/Abrasives_Polishing_Pads.html C.G. I am asking because sometimes I see that you stop at V36 and was wondering if you stop there because the V38 would be overkill? Also I have a white 2013 volkswagen jetta and was wondering if that paint is considered ''hard'' or ''soft''? I tried V36 with an orange hex pad and it removed about 20% of the swirls. Should I try V34 or even V32 with an orange pad? I am affraid to go to aggresive. I have the torq 10FX and use it on speed 5

try sticking with the V36/VSS but switch over to the mircofiber pad. If that doesnt work u can switch over to a 34 with a yellow pad, and if that doesnt work then switch back over to a microfiber pad again and so forth. Just work your way down from least aggressive in pads and compounds. You'll see that there are many different combinations that could get the job done! hope this helps.

So is the white microfiber pads about the same as the white foam ones? Like I've seen red microfiber pads, white like those 2 in this vid, light blue microfiber pads, etc. Should I consider the microfiber pads colors to be for about what the foams colors are used for? And the strength of the polishes/compounds for the color of the micros should also be about the same as you would use with the colors of the foam pads? Thanks!
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael, that's not exactly true. As you heard in the video, of the two white pads in the video, one was a cutting pad and the other, a finishing pad. This video is quite old and now we offer an orange and black microfiber pad. Choose the Orange Microfiber Cutting Pad to remove heavy swirls, scratches, oxidation, and defects from single stage and clear coat finishes. Follow up with the Black Microfiber Finishing Pad to restore depth, gloss, and luster, and refine any heavy compounding marks. Conversely, the Black Hex Logic Foam is a finishing pad with no cut. Thanks for watching, Michael, and check back later today for a new video upload!

If you want to apply glaze, sealant, and/or wax my machine, then yes, you should pick up the black Hex Logic pad, as you should never apply them a microfiber pad. If you choose to apply by hand, then you won't need the Hex Logic pad. Also, just a reminder that you can only apply glazes, sealants, and waxes with a DA machine and not a rotary.

Don't say anything that's trying to sell me something though, please, as I already bought the other pads from here so u know I'll buy if I should, but does anyone apply that last stage(glaze, sealant, wax) by hand anymore, or is trend now to use Hex logic black pads or whatever, like a machine now a days for it instead of hand pads? What PAD is recommended for a 2007 Honda Ridgeline? Hard/Soft/etc.? About my project, the clear coat has swirls and other similar scratches (imperfections). I want to correct the swirls, polish and then apply some coating (most like ceramic--no pad necessary there).

Hi! Great question. We have found 5.5" pads to be the perfect size that strikes the balance of coverage and focused cutting power. In fact, all of our polishers ship with 5" backing plates and 5.5" pads! Thanks for watching and make sure to check back later today for a new video upload!

Hi guys, which pad to use for removing light scratches and swerls on 2014 honda accord. Thanks
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 4 жыл бұрын
You can use an Orange Hex-Logic Cutting Pad to remove light scratches and swirls from your paint and then follow it up with a White Hex-Logic Polishing pad with a finer polish to refine the paint and bring out the deep luster of the paint.

Thanks for checking out the video! I've included a link to the hex pad page of our site which outlines all the uses for the different polishing pads, I've also included a description of the orange pad which would be the best choice for you based on the amount of scratches and swirls in your car's paint. Orange Medium-Heavy Cutting Pad-This firm, high density foam is ideal for scratch and defect removal. The orange foam offers the correction of a typical compounding pad while at the same time allowing the polishing ability of light cut foam pad. When used with heavier compounds it will remove moderate swirls and scratches with little or no haze. Its an all around pad that will work on most light to moderate imperfections. www.chemicalguys.com/Hex_Logic_7_5_Buffing_Pad_Kit_p/buf_hexkits_9da.htm

Hey I am going to buy one step polish (polish+finish+protection, Menzerna 3 in 1). So is it better for me to buy the green pad or the white pad because I want to have a nice shiny finish and protection film created after polishing.
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Marko, the green pad is definitely more aggressive and is considered a heavy polishing pad. The white pad is less aggressive with less cut and is considered a medium-light polishing pad. The pad you use will depend on the condition of your paint and the recommendations of the polish you are using. Check out the chart below to see all the color pads and what they do. When detailers use our premium one step polishes such as VSS, we recommend the green pad for medium scratches and swirls and the white pad for light scratches and swirls. Thanks for watching, Marko, and stay tuned for a new video dropping later today! www.chemicalguys.com/v/vspfiles/assets/images/HexLogicPolishingPadChart.jpg

How do these pads stick to the base pad? I have a 5” air driven orbital sander with hook and loop base pad. Can I use it with these pads and will it buff out a hand wax job? How many pads will I need to apply wax and buff out wax?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! The Hex-Logic Pad also uses a hook and loop backing to attach to the corresponding backing plate. Wax can be applied with one finishing pad such as the Black Hex-Logic Pad and buffed off with a clean microfiber towel.

What if I use the black pad for a finishing polish like Menzerna SF4500? It would still have the amount of cut the polish offers right? And if I jump up to a white pad with the same polish, this just offers more cut?

Hi! We recommend starting with v36 and an orange pad. From there, you can either get more aggressive if needed, or proceed on to the refining stages. We highly encourage you to read the article below which gives you a step by step tutorial on how you should proceed through the polishing process. Great video! Question- I tried to repair some scratches on my bumper by wet sanding then using a spray can with factory matched paint, but the paint-can sprayed unevenly and looks "bumpy"? Will using a buffing machine, with a cutting pad, and a cutting compound smooth out the paint? What pad would you recommend to use with my variable speed buffer?
@ChemicalGuys
@ChemicalGuys 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Buddy, thanks for watching. Start light, you don't need a compound for this job, a light polish like V36 will probably get the job done. If V36 doesn't do the job, then you move onto something like V34. If V36 works, finish off with V38 to refine the paint, I would use a white pad with that. Start with an orange pad with V36, then finish with V38 and a white pad. C.G. Alex -

Hello! Should there be any very small swirls (not visible to normal light - but visible in a very sunny California day at noon) after treating a Jeep Wrangler with an Orange Hex-Logic Pad with V32; and then a White Hex-Logic Pad with V38? And should I follow with a VSS Swirl Remover? Note: the clear-coat was in terrible shape, and now is great; but it is still not perfect (is perfection even achievable? - make it look like brand new again?). Thanks for your help
