I am trying to make ferric fluid, actually i have magnetic iron powder (black) and i want to make a thin magnetic fluid with neutral PH. What is your opinion?

Hey, just a note that the peroxide doesn't actually react with the iron, the HCl will force all iron ions to the +3 state. The peroxide might aid as a catalyst but I don't think so. Source: I do these reactions every single day at work.

+freakerss i'm afraid not. the peroxo group is reduced by Iron(0) to the oxo group, oxo ions will instantly coordinate to the newly formed Iron (III) ions from the oxidation reaction, leading to Fe2O3. to prevent this, the acidic environment will protonate the oxo ions instantly and prevent them from precipitating the Iron(III). so the peroxide is the oxidizing agent here, not the acid, the acid is merely there to maintain the Iron(III) as pentaaquahydroxoiron(III) ions in solution, then the ligand exchange reaction takes place with thyocyanato ions also in solution.

+sidewaysfcs0718 You are correct, in our lab we use a solution of KSCN in HNO3, so I'm assuming that nitric plays the same role as the peroxide does in this case. When I originally posted I overlooked this.
