Thank you for this wonderful video! I am torn between the Canon P1000 and the Epson P900 for my cyanotype prints. Since my prints are all about blue, I assume the Epson P900 will produce better results?
@ddsdss2565 ай бұрын
My P900 produces excellent quality, museum-worthy prints and I'd never consider putting anything other than Epson ink in it. I also have an older Canon printer and I'd never use anything other than Canon ink in that--it's just not worth it. In addition to risking printer operation, I sell "archival" prints, and part of that means using OEM pigment-based ink (with a supposed 200-400-year life). Re the "starter" ink carts for the P900, I was able to make a lot of prints before any needed replacement, but it would be nice of them to have supplied full carts (although many OEMs do that)! I do a lot of B&W, so the blacks and greys need more frequent replacement. Another tip--you always need to make sure to have a spare maintenance tank. BtW, I switched from Canon due to bad customer service--Epson is great in that regard.

Thank you for all the good info! Was just thinking about the ink on both devices and the way you described capacities, it seems to me that p900 has less ink in the piping, so I'm thinking if refiling (Europe as you say), it should be easier to rinse if you mess up the ink than pro1000? If this is the case, I don't mind too much for getting half capacity as a starter... just thinking...

Hello Jose.. thanks for the review.... Can you tell me which inks/system you use to refill your cartridges and if the cartridge level is still monitored by the printer and/or what has to be done to make the ink level interface work with the printer. I saw one set of refill inks and they said that the interface doesn't work but that you can just shake each individual cartridge to check if there is still ink in it. I'd rather not shake each individual cartridge if it's somehow avoidable! thanks... David

Don’t believe there will be a dime’s difference in print quality. The Canon may be a little more robust mechanically and I have NEVER had a miss-feed. I know I do not print frequently enough but because of the Canon’s horrendous ink waste due to cleaning cycles I once calculated that I could use Epson OEM cheaper than Canon 3rd party inks (or pay for a new Epson with the ink savings)--it’s the technology used. With that said, I still have my Canon and use OEM inks. Just too lazy to learn new print procedures.

Here is the truth about Canon Pro 1000-it was off for more than 5 months with the power light on,all the sudden I had to print 8 prints 8.5x11 luster quality photos,printed a test page first,came out perfect after agitating ink and less than a minute cleaning cycle.4 hours after decided to print few 13x19 prints-the cleaning and agitating cycle was about 30 minutes used up a load of ink this time,all in one day,I guess Canon had to make up for the "unused ink"somehow.Printer ink-the most expensive liquid in the known Universe!!I don't think the drying ink is the printer itself issue,this machine is programmed to suck us dry by using a shitload of ink which we dispose of by replacing the "maintenance cartridges" heavy as a brick,full of wasted ink.

Help me, Jose! Please!!! lol....I'm so frustrated right now and you look like a pro.. I have an Epson ET 4760 and have always been able to clear clogs in the past, however the latest clog starts way back at the beginning---in the ink tank itself. I can't pull any ink into tube or cartridge. Tube is clear. Cartridge is empty. When I try to pull ink from tube end that connects to the cartridge all I get is syringe after syringe of air and it sounds like a paper bag is crinkling...it's the ink tank! So weird...it's made of soft thin plastic that crinkles up. It seems to me like I might have a hole in my ink tank....does any of this sound familiar? I have watched every video I can find and nothing mentions what to do if everything is clog-free back to the point of the ink tanks themselves. I would absolutely 100% appreciate any advice!

I am looking to replace my Epson SureColor 400 printers (they are worn out). I use this for printing graphics/text for stationery items on heavy card stock and labels. My frustrations with Epson - I don't love the reds, thick paper does not always feed well, and each page does not feed the same way (so the top margins vary from sheet to sheet). Obviously quality and ink cost are both issues. So I am looking at the Canon Pro 1000.....but I can't ignore the Epson SC P900. What would you choose given my use?
@ytuberization2 жыл бұрын
Both have pros and cons: Canon eats inks, just unacceptable. The P900 is here totally different, but has huge problems with paper feed (from front, rear and roll paper),pizza wheel marks with sensitive paper and severe bronzing with B&W on Baryta papers. Both are just not good products, to be very honest. Unfortunately HP is no longer in this area active.

We are about refilling. I am not comparing printers output quality. Both are outstanding in that regards. You would likely not see any difference. Neither printer allows chips to be reset so it's all about how to get around that. I have been given print examples from the P900 and compared to the PRO1000 with same images and glossy paper the PRO1000 wins. Not in output accuracy but in lack of gloss differential which the 900 suffers of due to lacking a clear gloss coat like the 1000 uses. But they are equal in color output.
