Very well played by the actors and great filming but very inacurrate explanation of the evenements sadly. It is the paradoxe of this serie, nice to watch and well made but so many things wrong for those who have been interrested in this topic for a while. All the science, all the explanations were accessible but the creator of this serie chose to base his story on the Medvedev's book full of BS debunked since years though..

Having subtitles on, is not just a matter of which ur first language is. Having subs on in a reaction channel, or other channels, is nice and kind for the viewers, due to a lot of reasons. Many ppl whos first language is not english watch ur channel and others alike. Or ppl who has hearing problems. Or sometimes the youtuber just speaks over the dialogue. I mean, u are doing that great, girl. Ppl, let's think a lil about others as well.

So much suffering. So many heroes. The vast majority of the people we see, though, turn out to be heroes. The soldiers going into harm's way to clean the roof. The technicians working within walking distance of an open reactor. Liquidators going around destroying forests, even killing animals (that job would have shredded my soul--and it clearly is doing the same). Your reaction is honest and full of respect. Thank you for that.

I started watching reactions solely because this show made me think so deeply that I needed to see how others reacted to it. Don't feel bad you had a hard time putting this particular episode into words. It is not easy for anyone. But your reaction still had great value. You are the only reactor who commented that if the animals were not killed, the air would probably kill them (slowly and painfully). Good observation and understanding that something so horrifying can actually save pain in the long run. Looking forward to the considerably more uplifting Episode 5

Yes, I've noticed that a lot of people seem unable to process that the animals were already dying from both starvation and radiation poisoning. It's sad but it was merciful.

Plus, if they were not destroyed, all the animals could potentially spread the radiation wherever they went. This cleanup was essentially about containment. That meant destroying both flora and fauna that was contaminated.

It turns out that there were earlier radiation leak accidents in the USSR, for a variety of causes, like when a tank holding highly radioactive waste exploded when it got too hot. How it connects to this episode of Chernobyl is this: When people were evacuated from the highly radioactive zone, their animals and pets were shot so they would not be tempted to return. Also, the milk from that cow would never be safe to drink again, so there was no point in leaving it alive, as sad as that is.

At this point in time, you have proven yourself smarter than a great majority of the English speaking world. You speak more than one language. You do not owe them an apology or a reason. As for the animals, they knew if people ate meat or drank milk from contaminated animals, it would kill those who remained. Yet in the end National Geographic has done several articles on those who chose to stay despite evacuation orders. As for how does this end? The world is still dealing with that nightmare. The area will eventually be safe again. In approximately 24,000 years.

What I always find interesting is everyone's first initial reaction to Khomyuk's dialogue at the end of this episode. Most channels just instantly agree with whatever she says, and that her initial takes might as well be common knowledge because of how always right she is. Personally I liked that Boris stood up for Legasov, noting how easy it would be to tell people to martyr themselves, while at the same time not putting herself in any risk. She has the same opportunities as Legasov has to "tell the truth" but she's so quick to lump that responsibility onto another. She wasn't invited to Vienna, sure. But what prevented her from speaking out the whole time in other ways? At least that's the hypocrisy of her rhetoric Boris attempts to point out. But she's the Mary Sue of the series, so she gets the last word and is given a blank check on moral superiority. I'm not gonna spoil the last episode by extrapolating further but it's just a bummer to have this 4th-wall-breaking writing in shows. It gets tired after a while.

@ICameHereToComplain2 жыл бұрын
@@RoboSteave Hence me not wanting to spoil the final sequence at the end of the show. The writers have full creative control over her character's dialogue and actions, very much unlike all the real scientists whom she represents. So this is the character they wanted to make saying lines they wanted her to say. Her not being real doesn't excuse the "Mary Sue"-like writing for her character. I think it takes away from Legasov's reputation to imply that he was too scared to tell the truth and HAD to be convinced by someone who never existed or told him that. The second the writers make it an influenced stand against lies, it hurts the real and actual courage that the real Legasov had.

From 1918 to 1991 the Soviet Union was run by fear. In 1991 the Soviet Union went bankrupt and an entire nation was thrown under the bus, but then a miracle occurred-a middle class appeared and began to grow. This middle class is now the strength of Russia, however, the middle class, being educated, not only doesn't want to want to return to the days of the USSR, they have found ways to avoid being sucked into that concept. Putin, out of touch with his people and desperately wanting to return to the days of the USSR, has resorted to invading Ukraine. This has blown up in his face spectacularly. Through incompetence and corruption, the once mighty Russian Army has been revealed as a paper tiger. And not unlike the days of Vietnam in the U.S. the citizenry has found a way for their best and brightest not to be conscripted. Meanwhile, Ukraine has become a meat grinder for the Russian military and not even generals are exempt from being cannon fodder. So far, 14 generals and 317 senior officers have been killed fighting the Ukrainians. When will it all end? Only time will tell.

@@cardiac19 The majority of the population is in western Russia, close to Europe and they want what the Europeans and Americans have-but in a good way. The conscripts that they are finding are in the rural regions and they are basically cannon fodder. A few are waking up to that fact and are deserting. This war, unfortunately, is going to grind on. Right now, it is the Ukrainians that have the skilled and experienced soldiers and since this has devolved into a guerilla war, that places the Russians at a disadvantage.

Except for those items, the store had everything else but that inflation was affecting prices. This was several months ago and judging by the amount of well dressed Russians in the mall, yeah, Russia had a good sized middle class.
