Funny thing is, the moment Matthew McConaughey and Leonardo DiCaprio are hitting their chests was actually an improvised scene by McConaughey himself, as it’s something he usually does when preparing to shoot. DiCaprio was looking at Scorsese like, ‘WTF is this guy doing?"’ And Scorsese just said, "Keep going, follow along."😆

Considering it was based on a true story of a man's life, I found it to be very interesting. It is not a normal life story. He didn't start off rich. In fact he had people calling him pond scum. He climbed to the top, but lost all control, largely due to his drug addiction. There were some very entertaining moments in this movie. His model wife, was no goodie two shoes either. She was only after him at the start for his money and only stayed with him because of the lifestyle he could provide. She saw dollar signs $$$. The second that was gone, so was she. Overall I thought it was a very good movie, even if the main character was not a good person. I heard they cut a lot from this movie to get it down to 3 hours. Thank you very much for your wonderful reaction. 😊

FYI the real guy admitted publicly that the environment in his office was worse than what's shown in the movie and they couldn't show that much of a disturbing scene in the movie and sometimes he was so high on drugs that most days he couldn't tell time passing

The key to enjoying this kind of film is to just enjoy the excess and debauchery for the sheer absurdity of it. This movie is intended to make you go "dude what? HAHA look at that!" over and over. Watching it with a mindset of "he's cheating - how awful!" and "he's breaking the law - how evil!" isn't gonna be a fun time. But I suppose some viewers are just more about always playing it straight. I've seen people watch Monty Python's Holy Grail as if it were Come and See (1985).

Kamila, this movie was actually a TRUE story (it seemed that you weren't aware of that fact). Anyway, I worked on Wall Street from the late 1990s (since 1999), and knew of Jordan Belfort and his shady firm Stratton Oakmont even though they were not actually located on Wall Street. Those guys along with other similar fly-by-night firms were notorious for bilking investors by manipulating the micro-cap (low volume) market generally by inflating trade volumes. I remember when the SEC and the FBI began to crack down on those firms. Anyway, the guy at the end who introduced 'Jordan Belfort' on stage to speak to the crowd, was actually the real Jordan Belfort. Also, the REAL story is even more outrageous than the 'tame version' portrayed in this movie (LOL)...and he still lives in the USA and is actually doing very well for himself.
@michaelragnarsson347622 күн бұрын
I have zero sympathy for Margot Robbie's character in this, the man repeatedly cheated on his wife with her and others before he officially got together with her and then she actually thinks that he's going to change for her? She knew he was a dirtbag but all she saw was charisma and money and then she was surprised that he was a dirtbag to her too...

Kamilla's face was such fun to watch. Smile, confusion, disbelief, mild disgust, all in the span of 3 minutes as the scene develops. All that sums up this movie so well its exactly how most of us felt. Its a fun movie but it can get really weird at times which I really don't mind. Also the biggest fear of your husband call you an ugly wife? I mean sure there is a bigger than zero chance for that but I doubt it. I'm not sure what you see in the mirror when you look into it but I don't think that's something you should really be afraid of. :)

Great reaction, like always. This movie stands as a testament to the storytelling power of cinema when it intersects with real-life events. Its basis in truth allows the audience to not only witness the extremes of human behavior but also to reflect on the broader implications and lessons that extend beyond the screen. And there are some fun facts about this movie, Jordan Belfort was inspired by Tommy Chong to write the book, of all the people to thank for the existence of The Wolf of Wall Street, actor and stoner icon Tommy Chong is the guy who ultimately made it happen. Chong served a jail sentence in the same Californian prison as Jordan Belfort and the two were cellmates. And according to Business Insider, Belfort told Chong stories from his career on Wall Street during their jail stay together and Chong encouraged him to collect those stories into a memoir- which became the basis for the movie. Before Martin Scorsese became interested in the project, in a interview a producer reported that Ridley Scott was interested in directing an adaptation of The Wolf of Wall Street with Brad Pitt playing Jordan Belfort. Leonardo DiCaprio had been desperate to play Jordan Belfort since reading his book, Jonah Hill took a pay cut for the opportunity to work with Martin Scorsese, On an episode of The Howard Stern Show, Jonah Hill says that he was so desperate to work with favorite director Martin Scorsece, also saying Goodfellas is his favorite movie and that he was willing to take a pay cut for the opportunity to work with him. One of the most iconic scenes in this movie sees Matthew McConaughey’s character thumping his chest and humming, which wasn't in the script. In fact, it’s McConaughey’s own scene preparation ritual and he does it before every take. And according to McConaughey, Leonardo DiCaprio suggested including it in the movie and Scorsese decided to throw it in. Since this was just the second week of filming, DiCaprio claims it set the tone for the rest of the shoot. Whenever one of the characters in the movie snorts cocaine- which is almost as frequent an occurrence in the movie as someone dropping an f-bomb, the actors are actually snorting crushed-up B vitamins, Jonah Hill revealed that he contracted bronchitis from inhaling so much and had to be hospitalized. Most of the dialogues in the movie was improvised, the scene in which Jordan tries to get home from the country club as the Quaaludes set in was entirely improvised on the day. It was DiCaprio’s idea for Jordan to open the car door with his foot, though that had to be the only take, since he sprained his foot doing it. And in that scene where a female employee of his firm has her head shaved in front of hundreds of men hooting like animals so she might get $10,000 for a boob job. I watched that scene thinking, "They didn't fake this. This woman was absolutely shaved." And i later found out that her name is Natasha Newman Thomas. She's a Los Angeles-based stylist, and this beautiful women gave up her locks solely for the cinema. Keep up the good work.

This is one of my favorite movies and definitely in my top 25 list but I can absolutely see why it would not be someone’s cup of tea. It just looked like a bunch of guys having way over the top fun, making the movie.

And 35:27 - I have the most respect for the FBI agent in this film! Jordan tried to subtly bribe him and he didn't bite! I hate... 1. Paedophiles 2. Rapists 3. Corrupt law enforcement You can always trust a criminal to be a criminal but when a corrupt cop is playing both sides it is SICKENING! They're using their position of power to manipulate, steal, lie and profit when they should stand for something and uphold the law NO MATTER WHAT!!! At least a criminal lives by what he does! Imagine someone attacks your family when walking down the street and you run over to a cop with a badge on his chest and he refuses to help because he's being paid by the criminal that attacked you! It's a hypothetical but the principle is the same! Law enforcement are supposed to stand up for a principle of honour around honesty and protecting the vulnerable because that's what they're there for!!! If you get the chance watch the documentary The Seven Five about corrupt cops in New York! A proper good watch! And an underrated film is "Pride and Glory" starring Colin Farrel and Edward Norton!
