Thank you, before the reaction even gets underway, for focusing on mental health. That's extremely kind and in short supply. Sorry in advance for Joker 2, especially feeling like you have to think of a way to like it. Apparently not even Todd Phillips understands this first movie, so aside from all the mentally ill people who know exactly where it's coming from, anyone else who does is a welcome relief. Certainly a misunderstood film. It seems to be as much about comic back stories as Hereditary was horror elements. It's there, but the human story is what matters.

The best part about this movie is that during the studio scene lots of people sympathized with Arthur and wanted him to shoot the host. That was the great trick of that movie. The director managed to turn some viewers bad for a moment.

As much as I enjoyed this movie back when it was released I'm not surprised at all that a sequel from the same director wouldn't be good. The first film was just a copy of several 70's Martin Scorsese's movies blended into one story. It's no coincidence that De Niro is in the movie. As a matter of fact, I remember how for years there were rumours of Scorsese being interested in producing a movie about the Joker, potentially starring DiCaprio, until that project seemed to be no more in the works and then, all of a sudden, Warner Bros announced that they were indeed producing a Joker movie directed by Todd Phillips. Actually, the first time I saw the trailer I assumed that Scorsese was still involved since all the references to his movies were so obvious. Still a good movie, but, again, I can see how the same creator would fail at making a sequel if he wasn't able to use Scorsese as his reference model again.

"The worst part about having a mental illness is people expect you to behave as if you don't." This sums up the whole movie but so many people overlook that because they cant wait for a guy in a bat mask to come and punch a clown in the face. The few comic book references, such as Joker, Wayne, Arkham Asylum, where only used to drew in a broader audience that otherwise wouldn't have watched it. This films inspiration isn't comic book based. It's inspiration is Taxi Driver and King of Comedy. Arthur isn't "The Clown Prince of Crime." Most of the things he does are almost happenstance or negative reactions to other toxic people. They reveal how he was abused as a child but few people realize how real that level of abuse was happening. Kids tied up to radiators, specifically, happened *a lot* more than people want to face. Someone with mental/emotional issues doing a bang bang on live TV happened more than you'd like to know. Regardless, thank you for opening your video talking about mental health. It's such a massive issue but people want to paint a mask over it so they don't have to see it.

It was the highest grossing R Rated movie to make $1 billion dollars until Deadpool And Wolverine made $1.3 billion dollars in 2024. One theory has to do with time as it's shown on the clocks. Any clock shown has the exact same time as the clock Arthur has in his cell as he's banging his head into the the door window. Yeah, obviously there is day and night in the environment, but every clock shows that same exact time implying the Arthur is just imagining things in his psychiatric cell. He could have honestly been in the asylum as far back as when he was abused as a child since it was so intense he couldn't have been placed anywhere else.

I originally assumed 'Joker' was actually a test film made by Warner Bros to see how the public would respond to Joaquin Phoenix's portrayal of the Joker, since Jarod Leto's performance had generated mixed results. Set in an 'alternate universe' had 'Joker' bombed at the box office, the studio would be in a better position to distance themselves from it and quickly forget about it. But if it was a hit then the studio had their new actor to replace the now legendary Heath Ledger. But the joke was on me because the studio had no such plan, in fact they have no plan at all. They are just sharting out movies left-&-right hoping one will stick every once in a while. Warner Bros execs: Hey, you remember that thing you did that made us a bunch of money ? Todd Phillips: You mean Joker ? Warner Bros execs: Yeah yeah yeah, do that again.

A big reason I really dislike America is the health care, education and social programs. The country/government fails millions of children and adults every year, especially when it comes to mental health. That includes me too, I have a lot of issues that could have been solved early on, but because I didn’t have insurance I couldn’t get the help I needed, and now those issues have caused permanent damage. I’d have loved to go to college, but between medical debt from hospital visits and student loan payments? Well, I’d never be able to pay both off, I can’t even pay the medical debt, and the thought of two large sources of debt makes me feel… unlivable. It just sucks here, and I think about how different life would be if I grew up somewhere you didn’t need money to get proper healthcare or an education. And there’s millions here that have it WAY worse than I do, it’s not good and nobody in power cares, not even fellow citizens.

I think this movie is a Joke. For me the whole point is that Joker is telling a big joke. The idea I had watching this. And it's funny for some people like me. You know by this point that Joker feels like a BFF to Batman. It's his mind being so chaotic and brilliant. Or it could also be more from a Bruce Wayne perspective in a dream from his sick brain after his parents died. And about that scene when he was inside of the fridge he was trying to suicide himself. Most people just don't get that hint. But its a taboo unfortunately

I don't care even actor himself said Folie a Deux is horrible, I enjoy this kind of movie Realistic as like the Batman (2022) You can't expect the ending, happy or not, good or bad

When you watch Joker 2 consider that 1 & 2 are one long film. Like Crime & Punishment. This is just one of many versions of the Joker. This is Todd Phillips version. The fact it's in Gotham is irrelevant. Joker 2 is a great film. Despite the reviews. I hope you enjoy it. Great video and discussion again! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Joker 2!😊

A) Don't watch Joker 2. B) In the intro she explained she's seen J2 over a month ago by now.

@lokithecat7225 A) Why wouldn't you watch it to form your own opinion on the film instead of what the masses say. I know you think it sucks from your opinion. B) I realize that she was going to see it right after she watched this, loki. I thougt it was a good film. And would like to hear her thoughts on it since it seems to be so devisive a subject. I would never rag on her for her opinion on a movie. I feel that's pathetic. Like all these huge KZbinrs that just say everything is woke it sucks. And they make bank in superchats off saying everything Hollywood does is shit. Or collider and Reel Rejects that just say everything is awesome including all those shit Marvel movie and Star Wars shows. I just want someone that has various opinions on film. Everyone was expecting Harlee and Joker to escape and cause mayhem and murder. But that isn't what they got. So Everyone got pissed. What they got with Joker 1 & 2 was like one big film. Think of it as J1 is like Crime and J2 is Punishment. Crime and Punishment. Then you could look at it from the directors vision and point of view of his take on Joker. Like I said before this is one of like 12 different versions of the Joker. DC comics kind of origin story could be the storyline 'One Bad Day' or 'the under the red hood' version where he falls in the acid like in Batman 89. There is also a red hood version that's an animated movie were The Red Hood isn't Jason Todd. It's a take on the Jokers origin story.

I'll be honest, I didn't and don't hate 'Folie à Deux' like everyone else does.....except the ending. The ending is terrible, makes zero sense, pissed me off actually, but up until then I was completely on board. The finale is ridiculous and cheap because it pretty much renders both films pointless, which as a fan I consider insulting. Other than that, though, I think 'Folie à Deux' is alright. Personally I'm not big on musicals, but much to my surprise even that element worked for me because Phoenix and Gaga are singing covers of music I already listen to anyway ('50s and '60s jukebox tunes), so I enjoyed it. Sidenote: if Lady Gaga could just ditch the popstar stuff, she'd have a promising career in gospel, because in the film she sings and performs a sequence called 'Gonna Build A Mountain,' and it's incredible, easily the film's best scene.

The thing about the Joker is there is no backstory. So any version is actually okay.
@Rocket13772 ай бұрын
Debatable, when this arguably isn't even really the Joker (sequel says it isn't)? It's one thing to have alternate versions of the character with different backstories, but to have an imposter running around calling himself the Joker is probably a step too far. Especially since the one consistent thing about the real Joker is he never apologised for his actions (unlike Arthur Fleck).

So happy for my mom and dad when I watch this. Imagine your safe place being a fridge? I can’t…
