Wado for this great lesson! I'm learning Cherokee in online classes with Ed Fields, and so appreciate different perspectives, voices and insights! I've had a Cherokee dictionary for over 10 years, and a couple of books with bits in Syllabary or phonetics - and look up/ write words almost daily. Slowly but surely ... Wado

Great video! I have yet to master writing the Syllabary. It looks like my dog attempted to write it.

Osiyo! I need to make my connection with my family, with my tribe and re-learn the traditions and the language. My grandmother was Tsalagi and she didn't make it back to you all the way she desired in her lifetime. I would like to honor her member by connecting and if you can respond to this post with some direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, I have Cherokee ancestors as well... do your research and find out if any of your ancestors were on the dawes roll.

Funny how his name is Mo-see. It sounds like the Hebrew for Moshe, which is Moses. :D "Let my People go!"

Why did he use characters from the Roman alphabet that represent a different sound instead of creating a new one as he did for so many other phonema?

The original syllabary was original, but it was modified for print, so the characters were simplified.
