I love Cherrelle. I have always felt like she was the work horse, the one Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis worked things/sounds out with and Janet was the one who got all the fame. Don't get me wrong, I love Janet but Cherrelle is the one with the real voice. She deserved to be a bigger star. I jam to all her music to this day...

it was 1986. I went to Cherelle's concert with a friend. During this cut, she called out to the ladies to pick a guy to sing this to...you guessed it. went on stage wearing my fly ass outfit. Crowd hollered. I was taking it all in being all of 25 years old. She sang the hell outta that song & music was thumpin hard. was only a minute or two, but she teased & tantalized me wearing a BADASS black outfit...No lie, Cherelle LOOKED GOOD!!! Was my brief moment of fame. LOL

Don't know why people feel they have to compare singers and hate so much. Cherelle was very successful as a recording artist live on the pop & r&b charts worldwide. She had some big hits & was also a songwriter. Her career would've been bigger had persevered in the touring which she did not. Janet Jackson was famous since a kid. As a singer she always toured behind every hit & seldom missed a performance. Now Cherelle never got a lot of music awards its true but, that's not everything.

i was around when both women were being played on the radio. my opinion is Janet was all about finding herself and becoming a woman. i believe this is what attracted her to the young girls experiencing the same thing. Cherrelle, sang about female adult issues. i can appreciate her songs more today, than i can to Janet jackson's song "nasty". Saturday Love is golden.
