To answer your question, yes, as Cherry Audio has done it. I own, owned, or have used almost every hardware emulation Cherry Audio has put out, and they are pretty spot on with the original hardware versions. Also, I own a ton of VSTs, and I would put Cherry Audio up against any of those, not just the $150-$200 ones, but the $500+ ones as well. Lastly, I really appreciate the generous amount of "usable" presets they give you with each VST. The price that Cherry Audio charges is icing on the cake, but their products check off most or all the important boxes.

Many thanks for sharing - that's a great compliment to Cherry Audio. Good point about 'usable' presets too. I always prefer quality over quantity with presets and too much choice can stifle the creative process.

I've watched this video a few times now, and I must say that this is one of the best demo videos I've sseen for this instrument! Job well done!

I can't believe the price-to-quality ratio of these plug-ins Cherry keeps putting out. Of course, your selection of patches is excellent and you play very well and that doesn't hurt the demo any!

Thanks very much for your feedback! I agree the price-to-quality ratio of Cherry Audio products is amazing - but I hope it doesn't put people off hardware synths.

I‘m more on the HW side of things, but the Memorymode is one out of 3 VST synths I regularly use. I sometimes played the real thing in the 80s, and the MM replicates it very well.

Thanks for the comment. That's a good compliment to Cherry Audio I guess if people who used the original instruments are using their emulations.

Really enjoying you fabulous demo! I wish there was a 'show keyboard' option on some of the CA synths (Quadra, Polymoog, Memorymoog), as I personally like it.

Thanks for your feedback! I agree a hardware Moog is a different experience entirely, but if you want Moogish sounds at least there are many affordable options these days.

Pretty impressive sounds for a VST and that price sounds very reasonable. After listening to the hydrasynth on your other video some of the sounds seem lacking in fullness but maybe this is how the original memory moog sounds I'm not too sure. Good video, your playing is great 👍
@synthuniverse2 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for the feedback! Appreciated. From all accounts the original Memorymoog sounds massive - so perhaps this is just something that VSTs can't reproduce, although with careful EQ VST sounds can be perfectly usable for most purposes I guess

From my experience with some of their other products, Cherry Audio gets these things right.

Can this respond to Poly-aftertouch?

I'm not sure, as I've never used it with a poly AT controller such as Hydrasynth. Cherry Audio site might confirm...

"can a software synth costing less than $40 really deliver usable results? " No. Absolutely not. It mainly has to do with frequency response. On this particular soft synth, mids have humming, highs have shrieking and lows have either thin hi-pass effect or MUD.
@synthuniverse Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! This synth and other Cherry audio soft synths seem to split opinion about their sound
@fizgak Жыл бұрын
Will you hear any that stuff in a recording though, I wonder? Would an audience in a live performance? Does it matter at all except in the mind of the musician and the proud owners of such expensive and rare vintage synthesizers? :)
@thejollyjoker187 Жыл бұрын
@@fizgak It depends on what is played. If I play a lead sound of the latest trap hit garbage, no, it won't be recognizable. But if I play the synth solo of "Welcome to the machine" I really need the real synth to nail it.
@anythingbox Жыл бұрын
I tend to agree with you, but is the frequency response more of an issue of playback, meaning the D/A being used, etc? I cannot imagine that VSTs cannot reach great sounds. Memory Moog, from what I remember, was rather thin and wonky, always needing EQs, Choruses, and whatnot. On its own coming out of the output, it was noisy. This is why people tended to mic it up or put it through preamps to record it.
@thejollyjoker187 Жыл бұрын
@@anythingbox D/A technology has advanced a lot and is too reliable to suspect it's faulty. What vsts will never achieve is the total harmonic distortion coming from the hardware components, that always gave synths their character.
