5:58 Awesome synth. That stereo field adds a whole other dimension to the sound. I thought it was mono like the prophet 5.

Amazing demo. Will all of these patches sound the same on a prophet 5?
@synthuniverse11 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! Yes all of these patches will sound the same - only with 5 note polyphony of course. Just bear in mind that any patches that use unison (such as Octave release) will be monophonic on the P5, as it doesn't have the polyphonic unison. Hope that helps and be sure to check out the sound bank videos linked in description if you're interested.

have you ever compared the Prophet 5 to Repro-5? Would be interested to see what you think!
@synthuniverseАй бұрын
Thanks for your question! No I haven't - but to be honest, I use analog synths not just because of their sound, but because of the musical inspiration I get when interacting with them. Personally I don't find software synths inspiring to use - even when they sound good.
@RayyMusikАй бұрын
I had used Repro-5 for years until I decided to get the real thing. Repro-5 sounds really good and is a bit more versatile, but *nothing* compares to the basic sound of a Prophet-5/10. It sounds like it looks: a bit archaic but also natural. You seem to literally hear all that wood.

Thanks very much for the feedback! Yes I've got the Deluxe and the desktop. In my opinion the Deluxe is the best conceived synthesizer of modern times - so well designed and so capable and yet not copying anything else. And when you combine the Desktop with the Deluxe you get 3 Hydra engines at once which sounds incredible.

How do you get stereo signal ?? I just bought this bad boy and I’m trying to sort it out! Thanks
@synthuniverse2 ай бұрын
Later in the video and in the description I summarise how I do it. If you use a DAW then you can run the Prophet through a stereo reverb or other stereo plugin which will convert mono to stereo. But for recording I would always use layering and panning separate tracks as it sounds much richer. Good luck with it!

@synthuniverse2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. The Prophet and Hydra are of course very different beasts. For sheer breadth of sound design the Hydra is best as it can do V/A, FM, and wavetable with modular synthesis levels of modulation. The Prophet has a more limited palette, but the analog quality and character of its sounds are arguably unrivalled and when layered and used with external FX it can still create amazing soundscapes - it just takes more effort. Good luck with your search

I have a novation summit. Should i get the prophet 10 module and control it with that or do you recommend buying the prophet with the keybed?
@synthuniverse3 ай бұрын
I guess it comes down to space and money. if you have both then I would buy the keyboard version - it's a thing of beauty and well constructed with a nice keybed. But to save space and money I would buy the module to get the same sounds. Another consideration, is that with the P5/10 keyboard version, you don't get any additional performance controls (ribbon or buttons), just pitch and mod wheels, so you could use your Summit fine to control the module.
@synthkatt3 ай бұрын
ah ok cool, thanks for replying. the summit keybed is pretty good, I think ill go with the module 🤘🏻

@@synthkattI have both prophet 5 and Novation summit and keybed on both is superb. Weigh up your options, do you want to physically play both at once or Sequence primarily. I do a mix of both so opted for keybed. Of course getting the P10 keyboard version is pricey as hell.

Hello Jim, something isn't all clear to me. On your website you say that all sounds of previous Huydrasynth sounds banks are contained on the Deluxe version. How can it be, as the previous version has 128 sounds, and the Deluxe version has 64 sounds ? Thank you for your answer.
@synthuniverse3 ай бұрын
Hello thanks for your question. Just to be clear: the original Hydrasynth sound banks vol 1 and 2 combined contain 128 single patches in total (64 in each bank). The Deluxe sound banks combined contain 64 Multi patches (32 in each bank). However, Multi patches each contain two single sounds, so overall there are 128 separate sounds that make up the 64 Multi patches. But the Deluxe sound banks contain completely different patches to the original Hydra sound banks, so they are complimentary. I hope that helps!
