My heart goes out to you. This was a video on how to sharpen a 1000 times. I have a piece of cherry I know has some metal in it. After watching your video I can just imagine the work that will be involved. Great video. The bowl turned out great. Thanks for sharing.

@@MikePeaceWoodturning Your welcome Mike. I have followed all of your videos. You should be very proud of the work you do. I'm sure you will have helped very many people get to grips with the art of woodturning. I am 62 years old and have been a woodturner for over thirty years. It never gets old does it. I am always looking for that special challenge. Keep up the good work Mike, All the very best to you , Yours Ricky

Nice work, Mike, in that it was a fine example of what it takes to salvage a piece of timber. One of the big factors to take away is that a salvage project like this (wire, cracks, deep inclusions, etc.) is probably not a project that a new turner should tackle. Great education piece.

Great work!! Last fall I turned a big piece of Ash that had three 12 penny nails in it. ( I suspect the remnants of an ancient deer stand). After extracting the nails, I cut the heads off, drilled holes in the foot and epoxied them in. I figure the story will help sell it.

@@MikePeaceWoodturning Usually, when a new blade is put on the saw. :( I was told by an old (relative to my 64 years) farmer that when doing shade tree repairs they would always throw the scrap pieces next to the tree. Many of those ended up inside the tree as it grew. I've seen half the wheel of a horse drawn plow inside a tree.

I was wondering when you were going to break out the carbide tools. Do you not have any or just don’t like to use them? I’ve hit a hidden nail while using my Easy Wood Tools on a couple of occasions and they shaved down the nail fairly easily. I’m not sure they would have worked the same on the barbed wire as it might be a higher carbon steel, but it might have been neat if they did so, you could have left the wire showing to add a lot of visual interest. Be that as it may, the head slapping idea of using the finger contour gauge to shape the jam block 😲 was worth the video. Stay safe and well to keep the ideas flowing. Cheers, Tom

My power and inertia sander and sanding supplies from Ken Rizza at Woodturnerswonders.com. Great vendor. I use 3" disks for bowels larger than about 8" and 2" for smaller.
