Amazing work again Kim - can't say it enough, and it's been said before. I love it when one of your kids comes into the shop and grabs "random" item and walks out ... or your cat ... or a squirrel. To top it all off, you made something needed at home. You're real, you're running a household and working in the shop - and have kids, cats, and squirrels to deal with. Peace and Love!

Those are really cute. I am going to have to keep this in mind in case our container ever breaks. It's the cheap plastic thing they came in, so I'm sure it will happen sooner or later. Homeschool mom here too. I so very rarely knew the date or even what day of the week it was. If dad went to work we had school. But my middle kid is now in full time school and is obsessed with knowing the date. Always counting down to something.

A great idea Kim. It’s a pet hate of mine to find the kids have been baking and left the cake cases scattered throughout the cupboards. I’d never considered a turning solution to the problem. Whilst it doesn’t effect the functionality of the box I felt it was a shame you didn’t clean up the inside of the lids but didn’t get a great view from the video. Looking forward to the next project. Ms Kim - I have to start out saying I'm thoroughly impressed. I'm a Journeyman Toolmaker A1 (Master-craftsman)/CNC Programmer. ..and a legacy to boot (My Father was VP of Brown and Sharpe) and had his own Machine Tool Co. (75+ employees/BIG SHOP). I used to tell people I had 75 fathers. And 4 sisters that were coddled from the jump. Couldn't change a LIGHT BULB without supervision (true story, but i'm feeling much better now. Thanks). And married respectively, soooooo......... I randomly came across your Vidjeo ( that's how they say it Kanuckiestan ) you know "A"..?? I was intrigued by your thumb nail (KZbin)...so I figured " I'll bite ", expecting you to be fumbling around with the "BIG MACHINE" and you coming close to wearing that work as a ...hat. Nothing more can be further from the truth (sadly mistaken). You REALLY do know the "Secret Hand Shake" and work with the confidence that's require to be a conscientious Crafts-WOMAN ! You have my undivided attention and respect! I apologies for assuming the worst .. and finding polar opposite. I know this by watching you ..Inspect, Center, Balance and support your work ( you've done this a couple of times). Moreover: you application of work holding and set up. ( this is confidence ). I know i'm kinda over doing this a bit, but I would like for you to know how "jazzed" I am. When I was 12, My dad caught me polishing something on a 16x40 Metal lathe. (I thought i was Dead Meat). Not a big lathe ...but definitely not small. (about 10 HP). He asked me to stop the machine and come talk to him ( OH boy, look out)!!! He said this to me and I would like (if I may) to impart to you ( with due respects and humility ). He said only this .. " Ray.. (my name is Jeff) .."Respect the Machine because it has NO respect for you" . I would like to expand on that. It's one thing to be confident, .. but it completely different thing to be overconfident. This has nothing to do with gender, age, equipment or station in life. So be careful, please. Machines bite hard, fast and sometimes deep. What has served me well over the years is, before I energize power, I ask myself .."what would I do if this lets go". (lower Earth orbit). You probably already know this, I'm sure. But in good conscience, I have to say this ...to ANYONE, sooo... This Industry is not sexy by any stretch ( meaning appeal )... But, it can be a lot of fun. So Good for us ! Thank you for the content

@KimTippin4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much!! For something like that , no pressure pot, I would use the 3:1 Thick Set Total boat. It has a long cure time. Allows bubbles to come to the surface. You may still have to use a torch to pop the bubbles that rise.

Hi Kim Thank you 😊 for your reply, when I was in my early teens at school, they would teach woodworking, metalwork, and technical drawing, in the woodworking they taught you how to hand plane a piece of wood to make it square and as you progressed over the years you were then allowed to make things on the like small cabinets et cetera, in the metalwork hand file a piece of metal square, then make things like screwdrivers small hammers adjustable wrench and even steam engines obviously the boiler had to be tested. These days they do not seem to teach practical things for children to learn it's all computers pressing buttons, I don't seem to have hands-on with tools in the way like we used to it's not until they're older and probably even to the point where they getting retired they think of taking up something as a hobby. For most of my life I have been a specialist joiner carpenter doing French restoration and making cabinets. For the last best part of 10 years I've been in involved of renovating and converting Barnes and I've been doing most of the joinery work in special windows and doors virtually handmade, some of the doors when it came to hanging them or fitting them took at least four people to lift them so you can imagine what sort of size they are. Anyway I better stop there tell you about my life story, keep up the good work BSafe in his bad times of virus, To day I heard in the north England are going back into lockdown again. Stay safe Face mask and head shield on. From Phil from the Moulin in France. 👍😎👀

hey Kim , I like the whole idea of this and of course I love the scrap resin usage . I had a thought about the papers being white and my first thought eas " if u painted the inside bottom black then u could just look through the resin and if u c white then u would know that u still have some even if u can't c how many , but if u c black then u know that u r out . then I thought that if u don't like the paint idea ; u might like 2 glue a piece of ebony 2 the bottom side of the wood b4 u turn it and when u turn the inside u would turn it down 2 the ebony . and that would make a nice bottom with the same visual trick

some times scrap resin IS the Blessed part of the whole project . 1 of my 1st projects with resin. I over estimated the amount of resin ; so the excess (red ) just hardened in the mixing cup ( pudding cup ) . I was like , what am I doing with this ... then my inspiration hit and I made a keychain 4 my sister shaped like a Vw Bug ( that is what she drives ) I drilled 2 holes in it poured in some black in the holes then I cut out 2 weird triangles near the top and poured in some clear . so now I have made the tires and windows cut off the scrap at the bottom and I even made my 1st cross with that piece of scrap. God Bless all

Here's an idea for when you're going to finish an item natural, sans resin. Don't know if it would work for resin. 1. sand to 600, or 1500. 2. Buff for a couple of minutes with an old worn out cold weather wool sock. The wood glows without being yet finished. I'd guess the wool is about like sanding to 3000 grit. I mostly use polyurethane finish and the old wool sock buffs THAT to a special shine too.

Jim Pike yes this is cat litter made from silica gel. Costs less per bag than the silica gel for drying flowers. Check the internet/Amazon for price comparison and you will easily see what I mean. I bought Silica gel cat litter for drying my roses in it for my resin project (will be pouring when it isnt 100 F outside). And also look at the amounts Kim needs for covering the wood chunks. That adds to the price comparison as well. Please stay safe and take care.

Thank you 😊 Yes , crystal kitty litter. I got it at walmart. $4 or so for one bag. You have to dry the litter after each use. I put it on a large tray and set it in the sun for as long as it dosen't rain. lol

Kim we are so blessed having your God given talents. Just for my curiosity how long have you been wood turning.
