They reveled to me recently after 14 years that that day we left was the happiest day for them. They said they no longer wanted a dad. They said God is their Dad. Blood dont make a father. Cause mine Got mine and forgot them. So you my man is the "MEN" and your the reason why we need to celebeate Fathers more. Good JOB!!

I can remember after leaving my husband almost 4 years ago and not being able to listen to this song without breaking down in tears. I was so ashamed to become a single mother. Now, I still cry when I hear it but it's for an entirely different reason. Key word is you had a husband, even if things didn’t work out. This song doesn’t apply to you. This song glorified teen pregnancy- you did more than the others in this comment section by trying to do it the right way -so you had nothing to be ashamed of

@@Proverbspsalms It definitely applies! Who the heck you're supposed to be? The song writers. This song applies if it relates in even the slightest bit. Even more so if it makes her emotional. Married or not she still ended up as did I like teen mothers or unwed mothers. It makes you realize you never know a person until they're outside of the home sometimes unfortunately. This song hits me just like it hits her. I hadn't seen your comment when I left her the praying hands. I wouldn't have even spoke on my own situation elaborating. I was surprised to see a relatable comment. For one because you feel like the ignorant statement you typed. Any body man or woman can become a single parent and not once did she single the lyrics out to reflect it for a reason. Nor did this song glorify teen pregnancy. Things happen and unfortunately that don't mean they too don't deserve support. I was very ashamed as well. Yes we did it different but you can comfort someone a better choice without implying this song glorified a problem in many communities. At the end of they day us married women and plenty unwed mothers both ended up with fatherless children.

I used to sit quietly in the back seat of the car listening to my mother sing this song with tears streaming down her face. I used to always wonder why this song made her so sad; a single mother of 3 by the age of 19. As the youngest and only girl, I am now 41 and can’t listen to this song without shedding my own tears for my mother now understanding all she went through and why this song hit her the way it did. We had a village and I never once went without but the strength it took to raise 3 children alone is a different superpower. And though I don’t have children of my own I’m an active aunt and would have it no other way! To all the single mothers out there, keep going!!!! Never give you, everything will be ok. May God cover you all and your beautiful children.

I had fertility issues. Pregnant 10 years apart, both miscarriages 😢. All I wanted was to be a mom, deep down in my soul. It was aching. I got pregnant a year after my last miscarriage, and I made a vow to Jehovah if he let me carry to term I would make sure my son knew him. I had a boy in 2096 at 32. I kept my vow. I had the most easiest child to raise. Slept 8 hours or more like his mama😅, no sleepless night.. .we did however have the terrible 2's and 3's🤣. I homeschooled him and when he joined public school he was put up 1 grade, so he graduated a year early! He's 17 and an awesome guy. Thank you Jehovah for blessing me. Oh yeah his dad, he would win the Deadbeat Dad of the Century.

Today my son turned 19 years old. Oh weee!! 💕💕Words are small but if you could see my heart on today, you would know that I'm blessed. I'm overjoyed, God knew exactly the master plan, I'm just happy I was there to be aligned with it. I could tell you my whole life experience good, bad and Indifference, with my journey through life with my child. When God has his hand in it, it could never go wrong. Tears of joy rite now!! " Be still, and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10

Song bring back so many memories. To think I didn’t know how being a mother would turn out. Crying many nights, the struggle and strength to carry on. Well my first born is 26 and so far all my children are the dream I saw when I was hoping….

Wow... I remember hearing this as a baby and crying realizing this was gonna be MY reality. I cried everytime I heard this bc I wondered how I was gonna do this as a single parent. I’ll tell you how... fast forward 33 years later, my son is a grown ass MAN. I raised him to be the man I would have wanted for myself so I raised an educated man who will be an amazing husband and father. He is a family man who loves family but most of all God! He NEVER gave me ANY problems... ever. Doesn’t drink, has never done drugs, has never even said a cuss word in his life. He graduated from LBSU with honors with a film degree and now works at Warner Brothers as a film editor making more than double what I make. My baby boy just got engaged in Aug and is getting married in Puerto Rico next year. How did I get thru it? One day at a time and with Gods love, mercy and Grace! This song still makes me cry bc I was only 20 years old when I had him and I wish now I could go back and do it all over again bc thru it all there were so many good times that I miss. Now, I’ll just sit back until he gives me my first grand baby when I will get to do it all over again. It was hard, but, it wasn’t impossible. For those of u going THRU it, don’t give up, enjoy ur times with ur babies bc Gods for you!

I can remember when this song was released, the same day that my VERY first niece died in my hand..she was a premmi..I just lost it,i was so proud to be an uncle, but long story short, I called my local radio station and made a request for this song for my sister Zenique who lost her child Asia Le'Shay Ragland....I will NEVER, EVER forget that day...but 3 years later on the EXACT day Asia was born my niece was born May 8th....

I was pregnant with my first born (of 5) when this song came out. That was 1988. My baby passed away Dec 25, 2020 in a car accident. 32 years is what I was blessed with. That day this song played in my head. I will carry them all until the day I die. The love and loss of a child - at any age - is the purest love and the most profound pain. I am surviving the one thing I was sure I couldn't - because of God. Thank You Lord. Thanks for my child.

I was just talking about this this morning.....my son came at the time I needed him in the exact way I needed him to.....even though I was conflicted when I found out I was pregnant because it didn't happen in the way I thought it was suppose to. And if it happened in the way I thought it should....there wouldn't be any real significance. He's a chain breaker! I tried to get pregnant for many years.....he finally came when I was 32.

Singing this as a child then turning 18 having my first born, I broke in tears because it was so real. For once a song where each word hit home. As a child hearing this song never thought it would be me relating to it. Sadly it was my reality so young in my life. 42 years old almost now and I’m still grateful hearing this. Three more kids since my eldest and I’m grateful ❤Thank you to my kids fathers and to God Almighty for each and every one of my kids ❤I Love You Lord✝️🙏🏾

I remember this song when I had my first baby daughter. I sang this song to her cried because I was a single Mom & the daddy did run away free but another man came into my life when my daughter was 2yrs old & picked up where the other guy should have. We've been married for over 32 yrs. with 2 more children. Ages 37, 32, 31. God is great, life is great, love is everlasting. Believe you me what one man won't do, another one will gladly. Be Blessed. Keep the faith. Don't give up. Be the best version of yourself.

This song takes me way back 23 years ago. I actually decided and wanted to become a mom at 17 because of this song. I was a ward of the state and had been going from foster home to foster home as a child. My goal wasn't to be a nurse, or a doctor, or a scientist, my goal was to be a mom and have a stable home and family, something I wanted and didn't have. I accomplished that and I gave my first born son and three more afterwards more than I ever had or could dream of. Til this day my children and the family I have made for myself mean everything to me.
