I already see the confusion, so...only the portal to Vacuo is one-way. The other portals (to and from Atlas/Mantle) are not, since otherwise Jaune and Nora couldn't have gone through to get people to evacuate through them.

The episode had a lot of cool moments. Ruby outsmarted Neo (again) in a very critical moment even those she was outmatched, Jaune being competent with both priorities and really tough choices as well as being handy with that shield push, the little moment of Weiss shooting Cinder with Blake's weapon, and the moment of Penny choosing her fate, and the subsequent moment of Winter becoming a maiden (the score there being absolutely phenomenal and powerful). Of course there is the big thing of at roughly when Ruby and Blade fell is when you realize there's a good chance they aren't dead dead. Though I guess a lot was and would be happening and it couldn't easily have gone much other way (or maybe they wanted you to guess they're probably not dead there idk). And now the group has had their first full fight with Cinder, she proved she knows how to deal with them. Attack the weakest, force them to go and defend, then push them into predictable situations to get what she wants. Now she and Salem have the lamp and the staff with just two more relics to go. Though I guess at the very least some good is that the lamp is all out of questions, and Watts isn't here to make use of the staff. So that's some saving grace to the situation.

I might be more excited about the instrumental scores than the actual songs this volume. The last two chapters alone have had some of my favourite musical moments in the entire show. The highlight is undoubtedly Winter's maiden music (I have a feeling it will be called something like "This was a Gift" in the soundtrack). I'm still pumped for the songs this volume though. I'm really intrigued about what the rest of "The Sky is Falling" and "The Truth" will be like, and of course hearing the rest of the opening to decisively see where it stacks among the others.

Yes! The instrumental scores have been nothing but fenomenal! You're right, Winter's maiden theme is one of the highlights, along with the Hound's theme and Oscar nuking Monstra. I also loved the score on chapter 13 with Cinder, Neo and Watts. They have done an amazing job! As for the lyrical songs, I am too very eager to know more about "The Truth", both lyrically and melodically (I want to know if it confirms in anyway the theory that Sacrifice is Cinder's song; if not, then maybe it is Raven's, or even Salem's). Also, very excited for "For Every Life" and the crew's reunion song. About the complete songs, I loved them! And if we are ever going to have a "bonus" song, I would like it to be either on the Hound's perspective, or on Jaune's perspective (maybe that's next volume, when he can process about everything that happened)

Having drinks on hand for this episode? Good call. I think Vol 3 was still darker due to the unexpectedness, where most of us saw this kind of ending to Vol 8 happening, but wow. Talk about depressing.

I have a theory on Qrow looking at Clover's pin and having the bomb change directions and get held up. Perhaps Qrow simply has luck as his semblance, and his pessimistic outlook on life in general forms the luck into misfortune, rather than the semblance actually being misfortune. Qrow using Clover's pin may give him the chance to see that he can actually have good luck, and perhaps that might change both the way he thinks about his semblance and life in general.

if i have one complaint about this finale it's that once Ruby and Blake fall into the void it becomes clear that they're all gonna be fine and that Yang is fine as well. It sorta just gets rid of the stakes, although maybe that was intentional since it is the finale and they don't really need that set piece anymore so they can move on from "uh oh this is dangerous" to "okay well whats in store for them next" cause everyone watching clearly knows theres another season anyway

RT seems to like and mess with us (Fans) by touching so many known saga's The Marvel one, The Tolkien one, Oz. Now we are facing The Girl who fell through the world/Alice in Wonderland, or Journey to the center of the earth, who knows, maybe we will see some Star Wars or Flash Gordon. This upcoming Volume is supposed to be the last I think, so we will see what they squish together. I just want to see what happens to Juane when he has to explain to Ruby that he assisted Penny in a suicide. I guess we might see that burning at the stake part after all. (Joan of Arc was burned at the stake right?)

@@handtomouth4690 I had originally heard they were greenlit until V10. But that was before we had a pandemic, and RT and Warner started making all sorts of changes. Do you think were gonna make it? I hope we do, I am just a bit suspect of it.

The fights in the portal dimension have the same problem as the fights at Haven Tower. There were too many things happening at once that they couldn't properly focus on making the individual moments look good. They just showed about a few seconds here and there. (okay, it was longer than that, but I think you get the point). Ruby vs Neo was 85% in the background. Most of the time, they just clashed and went off-camera. Penny vs Cinder was good but it kept cutting away to other things. The only times I'm really able to enjoy a RWBY fight is when they only focus on one thing and not cut away until it ends, like Cinder vs Rhodes, and Hazel vs Salem (it may have been pretty short but we at least saw the entire thing) for example. Or most of Penny vs the Ace Ops. And a lot of other fights in Volumes 6 and 7, too. While I really enjoyed this Volume overall, I felt like that's one thing it was lacking in. I know why they keep cutting away but I felt like it happened too many times. And that's the problem when there's so much going on at the same time. Especially in the same room.

Cheryl probably won't agree with me, but personally, I hope Ironwood is still alive. After Volume 7, I hated not being able to root for him in this Volume. And I'm just hoping that they can somehow give me a reason to root for him again.

James was in the lowest level of Atlas. Which crashed into Mantle. And then flooded. Unless he was FAST, I doubt he is alive.

The destruction of Salems character after hyping her up for 5 volumes has turned me off this series. I hope RT make the dicision to fire miles and Kerry, but I don't believe they will

Salem's characters hasn't even been destroyed though. Don't confuse your personal opinions with facts. And I doubt Miles and Kerry, the people who were closest to Monty, would be fired especially because people like you who think that not liking the writing means you have better insight than professionals.
