In this video, I create several paintings on watercolor paper. While painting them, I realized I was loving the way the combination of using dirty water and drying the wet paint looked. While I show several styles, I wanted to share these with you.
Three already sold!!!
If you try this technique, I have started a Facebook Group to share your pieces if you want. / intentionalartistgroup

the simpleness of these pieces is quite striking, if not utterly compleling. There is a quote about Turner: about his painting on his newly hung work He came in and fired his last shots and quietly left! This work is strong, and just an aside, I do not care that they sold, this is not necessarily an affirmation of the work. this simply means that the work went into a home, and will not be seen institutional. I am not against selling work and think it a small but positive comment about the work. The work stands on its own. Kat❤

thank you for such a kind comment. When I started painting, someone told me to paint what people wanted so I did. I sold them, but it was not fun and not my passion. It was not until I stopped painting for sales and started painting out of my passion and what was within that it all turned around. Those that buy my art say it speaks to them on a personal level and that means so much to me. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment Kate!!

Just watching one of your older videos, which I loved, can I ask when I'm painting the back of my paper gets quite messy have you a tip how I can keep it clean please 😊
@CherylWilsonArt
@CherylWilsonArt 2 ай бұрын
Mine always get dirty!!! and actually, I love the history of the mess. BUT that is me. Perhaps use two pieces of paper, tape the side with some white or blue painters tape so the real painting stays clean? Then use that back second sheet and paint over that one.

Wow i love these pieces so so hard, thankyou so much for sharing your process and techniques. I hope one day to be ten percent as creative and intuitive! As a complete newbie who’s being bankrupted by acquiring supplies, would the paint have to say “high flow” in order for this watercolour-y technique to work? I love how the paint travels and would love to tty this, but i only have standard Pebeo acrylics so i’ll maybe trying watering it down a ton??
@CherylWilsonArt
@CherylWilsonArt 4 ай бұрын
hello, thank you for checking out my channel. One thing you can do is get some Golden Acrylic High Flow Medium, 4 Oz : it is about $13. It will help any paint act like a high flow. The process here is a lot dirty water too!!! You can use tea water too. Then use paint with the high flow medium onto wet paper and it will spread beautifully. My description had a link to the products I use and that product is under the Mediums list if that help. Id love for you to subscribe. In the future I hope to do live shows but for subscribers only!

❤ Question for the smaller paintings how do you price them?
@CherylWilsonArt
@CherylWilsonArt Жыл бұрын
this depends. I normally do Length x width then time 2.5. This would depend on how seasoned the artist is too. For smaller paintings, you might have to make a judgement call as say a 4" x 4" that would only be around $40. SOOOO, I would increase that as you have to take into consideration paint and shipping, etc. There are so many variables. Are you paying for shipping? Are they going to a gallery? All this would need to be factored in. If you feel comfortable, you might have a rule to never sell a painting for under $100 as your talent, paint costs, etc add up. I know this is not a direct answer you might want, but whatever you decide, do a spreadsheet to keep a consistent cost to repeat. I have in the past, sold for too little and realized after the box, the varnish, etc, I was not making much!!!
