I started my locs at about the same length as you did coincidentally! im excited to see where I will be in about 10 years considering how long yours are now! woo! well see!.

I can't wait to get locs. I'm 16 years of age and I'm planning to get locs after my senior year of high school. I have a perm like you did, so I'm gonna have to cut that all off. It's a little daunting, but I am just so absolutely excited to get my dreads started. Ahhhhh!

@sbrowne94 you need at least an inch of natural hair in order to start locs, but it's up to you how long you want to wait before you start. i'd suggest maybe getting braids or two strand twists to help transition your hair. then you can start with your natural hair or get loc extensions to two strand twist extensions (after you cut off your perm) to start your locs

Thanks for the re-comfirmation that locs were the right choice for me. I am going into 2.5 years of having my hair loc'd and I have been getting frustrated with it's current state. This video helped me see the light and hope that this akward period will end soonl. I was wondering what did you use when you coloured your locs?
@lt88_5612 жыл бұрын
I know this video is old. But I just subcribed to your channel. I have baby locs. (one month) and I am trying to be very patient. (Yes, I did watch the latest video of the great product called "Patience." You have been my inspiration. Thanks and keep up the good work.

i didn't purchase the spray paint, but you can get it from a hair supply store, drug store, costume shop/party supply. it's temporary hair color spray

i love ur hair!! please could u give the title of the music in the background?
@chescaleigh13 жыл бұрын
@TemperChild4 in order to add color on black hair, you need to bleach it first and then tone the color in order to get the hair as white as possible. i honestly wouldn't advise dying your own hair because i've experienced a lot of breakage. it's very difficult to remove the dye and any left in your hair will lead to breakage. i'd suggest seeing a professional stylist instead.

@dr3am207 they would need to comb out their locs first and then perm it. I don't believe perming loc'd hair would have the results they'd want. the hair is matted together and will most likely not unravel with the perm

I am currently still a permer :( but for my 18th birthday (in exactly two months) I plan to start going natural. I'm still not sure if i will do the big chop, but I'm really scared I'll hate how my dreads start out... I know I will have to have faith in them and such, but for someone who hasnt started yet, how long should i let my hair grow before i try to lock it?
@twista87614 жыл бұрын
Can you tell me how u do the pin curls showed in the pic at 4:05??? I love it and my locs are at that stage now
@TemperChild413 жыл бұрын
hey, two questions. When you dyed your hair purple, did you dye over locs that were previously colored or did you dye your over your natural hair color? secondly, after coloring your hair, do you feel it made your locs more brittle/thin?
