The first moment may have been difficult to calcualte, but (relatively) easy to guess as there were only 4 legal moves and 2 of them seemed pretty obviously not winning. I "found" the right move pretty much by guessing one of the remaining 2.

@6:07 - I felt from the moment it happened that when the knights were traded off, White retaking with the rook instead of the pawn was the wrong move. I felt having that isolated indefensible pawn hampered White the entire game. Agadmator seemed to think the two responses were interchangeable but I'm not so sure about that.

you realise black also has an isolated pawn if you take with the rook? Taking with the pawn gives black a passed pawn too, whereas white doesn't have a passed pawn and the c pawn isn't as good as black's passed pawn. The engine prefers rook takes also. White's suffering only started later when he fixed the pawns on dark squares and black's knight became a monster

How does Caruana have a guaranteed place in the Candidates? We're not in pre 2020 Candidates anymore This is basically a must win game for Fabi if he wants to get one of the top two spots, I don't think draw is enough. Otherwise he will have to resort to the Grand Prix to qualify, which is always a very tough series.
