Hi Solomon! Great video! As a vienna player myself I can say that against ....d5 by black Qf3 (followed by dxc3, Qg3, Bf4, 0-0-0) is quite a bit more fun to play compared to Nf3. Personal preference, but thats what I found. Many players are super afraid of Vienna gambit and avoid it with Nc6 on move 2, against that normal Vienna game with g3 is great!

There is a really tricky and smart move from black in Vienna gambit accepted. And that is to sac the knight to remove the defender of the e4 square. Well, we can just ignore it and because it is well defended and play Nf3 after the move. But if we take it, then black will be on an attack after Qh4+.

@@TheChessGiant When the knight has to go home after e5 in Vienna gambit accepted. The knight has only one safe sqare that is g8. Here we sac the knight on d5 or e4. If white is greedy, then black will be on the attack. Best is to play Nf3 after Nd5 or Ne4 by black. Then we can capture the hanging peice :))))

If Nd5 which is a little less dubious, I think white can just take and after Qh4+ just move the king to e2 and play Nf3 next, attacking the queen. After moves like d4, Kf2, Bc4, Re1 and Kg1, I don't see how black capitalizes on whites awkward king placement on e2. White shouldn't have a problem consolidating and just keeping the extra knight. These variations are much better than allowing Nxc3 if you ignore the knight and play Nf3...

Hey Kuya! Great question, so ya the reason I don't believe Nc6 to work well for black is because we can play fxe5 forcing the knight to capture back in which we continue with d4 taking full control of the center. Once this night goes back to a square like c6 we can go with e5 pushing the other knight to g8! We continue with moves like Nf3, and then getting the bishop out following by castling and white has about a +1.6 advantage. Hope this helps! And sorry for late response!

Hey Christoph! Great question, so against Na6 we are able to take that knight with the bishop (which is using the technique of "removing the defender") and we do this so that we can play Qxc7 after bxa6 and we are simply up a pawn. Hope this helps!

Of course! And nice choice with the Vienna Gambit - ya 0-0-0 from black can be interesting to deal with. I recommend you plug it into Stockfish and see what it comes up with... when to attack.... when not to.... etc.

Great question Shaurya! In that case, we can simply continue by bringing our queen back a single square. If the pawn attacks our queen again we can bring it back to the square in front of our king on e2. In either case, we will still snatch off that pawn on f4 and black will have an awkward game. That's honestly a really good question! I think we play Qxf8 followed by Qxf8+, forcing that knight to go back to e7, and in that position we are up a pawn in material with a bunch of active pieces and a king sitting on d7. We can always think about moves like Bxb7 winning that pawn as well, taking the knight on e7 with the bishop, just castling and getting the rook involved... there's a lot of ways white can play this.

@@WanZo1984 Ahh I see what you are saying. So ya the Scandinavian doesn't allow the Vienna Game but if you do see d5 you could play 2. Nc3 which transposes into a Lizard Attack/Dunst Opening type system. Here is our video on the Dunst Opening which starts off with 1. Hey Sreedhar! Basically, with the Vienna Game, we play Nc3 and then play either g3 or look to make a support a d4 push. With the Vienna Gambit, we look to play an immediate f4, very similar to the King's Gambit. Hope this helps!

Hey! In that case, we simply need to look at it opening by opening. On this channel we have openings for white against the French Defense, Caro-Kann, Sicilian Defense, etc. However, there are always 4 rules (or steps) which you can follow that can help you navigate any opening position with good chess strategy! Here they are: 1. Put a pawn in the center 2. Castle 3. Let the rooks see eachother 4. Aim the rooks on an open file and/or against the opponent's king or queen just in case things break open. Yep, exactly right. The Vienna Gambit only works against e5. If you see 2. ...d5 or 2. ...c5 you'll go into Scandinavian Defense or Sicilian Defense theory.

Hey Sean! Great question. I would probably say the Danish Gambit is the most aggressive, at least right out the gate. After that it's a toss up for me between the Scotch Gambit and Vienna Gambit. However, they are all aggressive and so much of an opening is not just the first few moves but how you play it once reached.

Ya that's fair. May just take some time. Some players (like Magnus Carlsen) can see a game once and it seems to be there forever. On the other hand, I do think anyone can memorize, just takes a lot more work. You could also look into systems that don't recquire hardly any memorization. (Saragossa Opening, Larsen's Opening, Hippopotamus Defense, etc.)
