I really like the bird opening. Normally I seem to play very defensive even in the games I won. With this opening I am usually on the offensive side.

Also I was using the bird before you started this speedrun and I have learned some cool ideas from you, especially the rook lift and the light square bishop pinning blacks night to the king and sometimes just grabbing space in the middle. Thank you for this speedrun bro.

hey guys i’m confused because i’m very low rated player what’s the difference between the Bird and the b3 opening? first theee games appears to me as a b3 delayed opening, but what do i know!
@sqworm5397
@sqworm5397 Жыл бұрын
You're right! In variations of the Bird where we play b3, those two openings can transpose and have the same general themes and motifs. The important thing to note is that you don't necessarily have to play b3 while playing the Bird, so it gives you more options on what you want to do with that bishop.

@@sqworm5397 thank you so much.. so in your opinion should i consider switching from d4c4 in which i suffer against the KID? i like this opening but should it be my main repertoire?
@sqworm5397
@sqworm5397 Жыл бұрын
@@salemtv5808 It's hard for me to say since it depends on your playing style. If you think you can manage playing aggressively while avoiding mistakes then I think it's worth a try at least!

1.f4 does not lock you into playing b3, and playing 1.b3 does not lock you into playing f4, so you can get completely different types of position from each opening. Even if you're dead set on playing both moves, the move order can make a difference. For example after 1.b3 e5 you can't play f4 - at least not without preparing it first, and giving the opponent the option to play exf4. Basically the advantage of going f4 first with this setup is that it guarantees you get f4 in and prevents e5. The advantage of going b3 first is that moving your f pawn early is kind of sus and depending on the opponent's moves you might not want to do that.

@@Alpacastan21m they are playing a GM. Thats why they look "bad." If you found the forcing moves and positional advantages that Eric does then they would play the exact same against you. But when you dont find the best moves, you give them more options, which is why they play "better" against you.
