In this video, IM Alex Astaneh is fcompleting the Caro-Kann Defense series with the Panov Botvinnik Attack. The Panov Botvinnik Attack can be reached via two different move orders. One option is via the move order of the exchange variation with 1.e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3.exd5 cxd5 4.c4. The other option is via die move order of the Accelerated Panov Variation with 1.e4 c6 2.c4 d5 3.exd5 cxd5 4.d4. After 4...Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6, we reach the position from where the analysis of the different variations starts.
The main focus of this video is on black's best responses to white's last moves:
1:58 6.Bg5
10:30 6.Nf3 (Mainline)

I have to be honest I don't like modern defense, It's too messy, don't get me wrong, you guys are incredible, Alex Astaneh explains it very clearly, But I just hate this variation xD

Great videos on the Panov Attack! I laughed by butt off watching the black king hobble around after white's relentless attack in the piece sacrifice line. Exactly the kind of game I'm looking for from the white side. Thank you!

Hi Alex! What do you think about the Finnish variation of the caro kann? 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.nc3 dxe4 4. nxe4 *h6* Would it be worth studying as a "surprise weapon" of sorts? I've seen Leela play it in one of her games. What do you recommend?
