this was very informative, finally a video which showed white's perspective and key ideas in the Panov attack.

Thanks for this. I’ve decided to make this my main attack vs. the Caro Kann. Appreciate the knowledge!

Nice video! Been having a tough time against the Caro trying the 2 pawns, the Rasa studier gambit, the Fantasy variation and I always seem to lose. Time to go back to basics, and these videos are just spot on

Something small that you do in your videos that is so effective to me as a listener/student: briefly repeating the idea of the previous possible move before going into the next one. That is so helpful with solidifying the idea in my head.

Awesome content! Videos are really helpful perfect time too, as a long vid would just lose me an hour in. Could you do a video on the Queens Indian as a response to d4 instead of the bogo?

Only criticism after listening to this video only once is that there are lines that are probably cut a move or two short which likely result in dead draws (of course assuming both players are competent enough to hold the draw). This can mean that the recommended lines have to take that into account if the opponent is more than willing to accept a draw, which might be more true when Black chooses an opening with a solid reputation like the Caro Kann. Otherwise, this video seems to be a good introduction to some main ideas in the Panov Botvinnik.

In the Nc6 line if l am not mistaken modern theory is for black to actually play dxc4 rather than Be6. After Bxc4 black plays h6. If white plays Bh4 then Qxd4 and there are some pretty crazy continuations.

Would you be able to send me a timestamp so I know exactly where you're talking about? Thanks a ton for these great thoughts!!

@@TheChessGiant At 5:20, you say that the most popular move is Be6, which has undoubtedly been the main line and is certainly a reasonable response. I didn't check the database, but it's probably still the most common move. However, the modern treatment of this position has tended to favor dcx4, thus immediately establishing the isolated queen pawn. Then, as I mentioned above, the idea is to play h6, posing the question to the bishop. If Bh4, then a forcing and sharp lines ensues: black plays Qxd4 forking the two bishops, and then Qxd4, Nxd4, O-O-O, e5). Instead of Bh4, white will often drop the bishop back to e3. Black then plays e6 with the idea of eventually putting the light-squared bishop on the long diagonal. This is a less sharp continuation.

Good idea bro! We did make a trap video but actually covering an opening response is a good idea. Is there a specific variation you would want to see? Thanks bro!
