Losing sucks, but nice job giving a GM a run for his money two games in a row.

Impressive how you played the GM to a technical draw (even though he flagged you) twice in a row. Maybe with +1 increment that won't happen. Come to think of it, I saw a strong GM on another site shift from 3+0 to 3+1 to avoid exactly that.

I love your channel. Very instructive. I note that you are almost always behind on time. I realize some of this is because you are teaching while you play. However, as a novice it seems that late time pressure is your biggest weakness. Keep up the great content! Thank you.

Nelson's heart rate always briefly goes up twice during his absences: right after he leaves, and right before he returns; I'm guessing a flight of stairs.

It’s pretty clear that NM had taken Kramnik’s course ”Breaking 2500”.
@Kallaste.15 күн бұрын
Your heart rate isn't too high from what I have seen. I'm not a cardiologist, but I am a medical researcher with a personal reason for reading a lot of cardiology texts. Your resting heart rate this stream was in the 70s, and it goes up to low 100s when you get into tricky positions. For a *live stream* when you are performing under pressure? That seems pretty good! Of course, you can get a better idea if you check it off stream.

Bf3 could have restored some balance perhaps to the first game. He takes your rook, you take his rook. Then he takes your Knight and then you have to think.
@Calibrownsfan14 күн бұрын
also flagging in a hopelessly drawn endgame is bs. That's why I prefer increment. even 2 seconds is enough to hold an obvious draw

Cuz queen H8.
@michaelmassaro437514 күн бұрын
He couldn’t move the knight because Qh8+ would lead to Nelson being checkmated because there’s a pawn on d7 Nelson’s king would have nowhere to go to avoid the Queen check he could block with his rook on g6 by moving it back to g8 but his opponent would just take the rook with his queen and it would be checkmate

@@DidNotReadInstructions Completely agree.
@NabiParKoodaPhenkneWaliBudhiya14 күн бұрын
@@michaelmassaro4375 Yes. Completely agree. I have been thinking about this the whole night. Here's a potential solution for the fix Nelson is in: It's Black's turn. 1) Black King moves from e8 to f8. 2) [A] If White Queen moves from c3 to f6 (thus taking the Black Knight), Black Rook moves from g6 to f6 thus taking the White Queen. [B] If White Knight moves from f4 to g6 (thus taking the black rook and giving a check to Black King that's sitting on f8), Black Pawn moves from f7 to g6 to take the Black Knight and to remove check. 3) If 2 [A], White loses Queen and all issues resolved. 4) If 2 [B], White Queen moves from c3 to f6 (thus taking the Black Knight and giving a check to the Black King), Black Queen comes into play to block the check. My point is, there could be some potential solutions to save the game. Honestly speaking, I have never seen Nelson digging such a nasty hole for himself in the past. He has only 10 minutes to his disposal. In those precious 10 minutes, he must think all possible ways to safeguard his pieces from attacks, plan counter-attacks and tell us his reasoning behind all moves. That's takes a toll on quick and accurate thinking. My personal opinion is he should increase the duration to 15 or 20 minutes to increase the chances of having a constant, steady winning streak.

I think that playing too many games is not a good idea, in tournaments players play one game at a time, maybe if you pay one hour only, your results can improve drastically?
@valeriekeefe889815 күн бұрын
Nelson, maybe you should accept the Borg are coming. Maybe you should clip and compile your engine-eer series. And you should try to flag them.
@michaelmassaro437514 күн бұрын
When you have no idea what to do just have to go with your best move possible in the first game with your knight under attack from Queen the only move is to back the rook up to g8 at least you would still have the discovered check and probably be able to grab a rook for bishop

I must say disappointed a bit. Not because of losses but for the stuff at the end where there is an immediate fall back on accusing other players of cooking rice. Also noticed in most matches where things do not go your way you prefer to time out instead of resign. Love you Nelson but this one wasn’t good.

(To higher rated players) Do you think it is weird to spend 7 seconds to take the queen back??? I feel like I often take several extra seconds to take back a piece (even if it’s the only move) just because I’m pondering the position (especially if I’m up on time). Love Nelson but think all the cheating accounts lately have turned him a bit paranoid 😅

I think it depends on the rating of his opponent as well if he defeats a higher rated opponent he will gain more points than defeating a lower rated player and losing to a lower rated player a player loses more rating winning against a lower rated player won’t help the elo much
