2:20:54 Just to let you guys know, when I play a streamer, I typically either close the tab or turn off the sound and switch to another tab so I don’t see anything. I’m 100% about sportsmanship. Now, let me share my feelings and thoughts as a 1265. I was so nervous, lol. As Nelson said, I went with what he recommends to play for black from his Breaking 1500 course. Obviously, Nelson made all the right moves, and I took my time developing to make sure I didn’t blunder anything. Then I saw that a pawn storm was most likely coming. Another level of nervousness hit, so I decided to attack the center with d5. I was very shaky about my knight sacrifice, but my goal was to open the f-file, trade-off pieces, and keep attacking while trying to stop the pawns from advancing. The pawns eventually made it, and I made the choice to take with the f-pawn because of Nelson’s two rooks looming over my king’s position. I didn’t want them coming any closer. If he had taken my pawn, Nelson was right-I was planning to lock things up. After trading queens and one of my rooks, Nelson retreated to b1 with his king. I noticed that my light-squared bishop needed to get to e4, so my next two moves felt obvious: d3 and d4. If Nelson had taken d3 with his rook, I would have pinned it with Be4. Of course, he sees everything, lol. I brought my rook in, positioned my other bishop to a3, and then another wave of nervousness hit. First, I felt like I had a real chance to win, and second, I was running low on time. Then, the rest is history-I threw, lol. But shout out to Rob and Nelson for the great games, I couldn't imagine playing with a piece down, and Nelson, who played with 3 pieces down. I feel like a strong 1265, thx again to Nelson, and I’ll keep learning and playing every day!

Haha well played, nice fork in that first game winning the bishop

I thought you did an excellent job of pressing your advantage. Nelson played really fast against you and that was what ultimately allowed him to steal the game on time.

Nice analysis man! And I second that I also closed the stream for both games. I play on smartphone so I couldn’t have both open anyway! Very well played though Steve, I was super impressed by our game. I made a mistake early on you played so tight and solidly I couldn’t find a way back in! You’ll rise quickly I’m sure 😊 Either way it was super fun to play and I had a great time!

Nelson, I’d like to tell you, that I have watched almost every video you’ve posted over the last year and you have improved my game drastically. I enjoy your content and hope you lots of success in 2025!

At the 9:06 mark I was just wondering why you didn’t play Re4? I mean even if he played Be3 to block it…it would open up for a Queen side attack with Qb4+ …. Not to say I am no where near your caliber of player, but that you was a bit hasty trading Queens imho …..now I will go back to watching the rest of the game to see how it turned out. I doubt you even see this, but hope what I was thinking was good.

I posted that if Nelson got a Brilliant Move during the game I was watching, I'd give him $10. Well 1:03:35 Nelson earned a Brilliant Move! I think we should all do this as a great incentive :)

At the 27:18 why didn’t you go Bxe5? Not only was your Re was out of danger but also he could not play dxe5 due to the pin on the Queen.

Resistance training plus eating whole foods is the way to go! You burn more calories at rest after resistance training.
@nugsnothugs4 сағат бұрын
Yup you have an elevated burn rate for a few hours after heavy weight training and then every pound of muscle burns a handful of extra calories a day. That's on top of the cardiovascular benefits, the mental health benefits, and the confidence you get from looking aesthetic. When you look good everyone you meet, everywhere, men and women, just treat you better

@mrnelgin9 сағат бұрын
Before the digital age chess clocks used to have a little red plastic piece which was called a flag. As the hand moves it would raise the flag and when time expired the flag would drop. This is probably where the term "flagging" came from. You ran out of time and the clock flagged it. These days you just have to watch the digital clock flash 0's.

why do you call it "exceptional fork" instead of just a fork?
@arnoudh62039 сағат бұрын
because it probably was pretty exceptional
@mohdhafizmohdazmee47159 сағат бұрын
This is just one of the running jokes in the channel. Nelson played someone named “exceptional fork” and there were like 2-3 forks on that game and a game after that. And nelson kinda said someting like, “this one is exceptional and this one is not” and this been happening since then

I'll be honest, playing the odds games wasn't my favorite. I probably won't watch future streams or videos that revolve around it. It looked fun to play, but it really moved away from the normal instructive nature of your channel. Maybe I'm a minority tho. Hopefully other people will comment to let you know.
