Facts your ocd dosnt include me
@ModifiedRabbitАй бұрын
@@youtubeistrash2347 Yes it does when you very much benefit from it. Especially in survival games. They realize this at the end, when they cant find what they want very well. Now think of that when an emergency pvp situation arises and you NEED to grab weapons and ammo etc really quickly and even 30 seconds of being confused on where tf anything is, will get you killed and your base raided to hell. That organization is key to being able to grab and go for that. Obviously they overexaggerate in this with his spoilage stuff etc, but the point is that its incredibly important to be organized and those in the party that just dump crap wherever dont appreciate those organizing things enough and just reap the benefits. All of the top groups/clans/etc in survival pvp type games ive played have a pretty well organized system for a reason.
@slawekstoj1Ай бұрын
I am not so sure with overexaggeration on spoilage stuff. If resourcess are rare, loseing food items beacuse someone ate fresh food instead of close to "expiration date" wouldnt be so great.
@ModifiedRabbitАй бұрын
@@slawekstoj1 Yeah thats definitely a good idea but most games either dont do a super close spoilage timer, have a glitch reset by combining the close to spoiled with new, or you can find food easily enough to not have to worry. Its very rare that spoilage timers are that huge of a concern with food in survival games, and ive played a lot of em. Main time its a concern is if its like, just two players or very inactive ones on a game that does make it harder to find food, but I find that those situations tend to not be too bad at all with organization anyhow and the food spoilage would be one of the only concerns for organization in that case. It really depends but most cases it isnt a big issue with that.

The waves rose again." Then you're doing something with it. But there are circumstances where it just- doesn't- sound right... Idk how else to explain it. Unfortunately my brain doesn't wanna come up with something that sounds awful to me right now, but I'm not sure if that's because the ideas actually sound good, or my brain is too tired to realize they sound bad. The frustration with too-organised players is that they have secret rules only they know that they get mad at you for not reading their mind and following. The labels on things aren't long enough to explain their extra in-their-head rules. For example in 7 days to die there are cloth scraps. They are found frequently enough as raw materials that you usually don't have to craft your own. But you can if you need to, out of cotton. But usually people don't. So, do they go in the raw material chest or not? Every player has a different idea and that won't be on the labels.

I keep the cotton since it can be used to make a couple items (used to be beds I think) though I am living a camping life in a steel base, go figure.

Lol, as someone who plays a LOT of games with these kinds of loot gathering mechanics and other people, what we do is have a dedicated 'house elf' (the person who sorts everything) and drop boxes. everyone can just dump things in the drop boxes unsorted and the 'house elf will sort whenever they are on and have time - or any of us can come help once the system is established. Makes life SO much easier. Also, LABEL THE chests/boxes/storage so everyone knows where/what things are WITHOUT opening them and life runs easier because 99% of the time only one person can be in a box/chest/storage at a time.

@@thenazar3230 It's not that important when you do it manually until the game introduces automated production. Then suddenly everything has to be organized or the machines will run out of fuel or raw materials while there's a stockpile of 1000 units of metal on the other side of the base.

As the guy who typically crafts everything in the game for everyone else, builds the base, and sets the defenses, I fully understand the pain of people throwing items into random chests. Especially when there's automaton in the game, as by throwing a single random item into the automaton chest, it ruins the automaton process. Literally a wrench in the machine, lol. So I was with Adam and fully on his side until he started going on about alphabetical order since that's one step too far for me honestly. Lol I mean colour gradients help with prioritising what gets used next. Especially with decomposing items. And item grouping helps when you have a lot of a single item type, and the more you have, the more precise the groups need to get. So there can definitely be an "Iron" chest early on that holds iron ore, scrap, ingots, and iron gear, but as more gets gathered or crafted it's necessary to have separate chests for each. That said, I typically have the "forager" or "dump" chest for the people going out to loot the supplies to drop them off since they usually don't care about anything but grabbing the next load. So when they do, I typically inform them of the latest base additions, give them fresh/upgraded gear and supplies, inform them of any supplies I'm lacking and need more of, and then they head off again to gather more supplies. After they leave, I organise everything they placed in the chest and continue my job as the group builder/crafter. It's simple, efficient, and encourages cooperation as everyone's happy. :)

Yeah, but he is too detailed, if he sorted everything in the most minimal way, they would have 100s of chests, that's why you sort them simply by the Ressource: do you have 2 different wood? That Goes into the woodchest, do you have an iron ingot and a iron barren? Then that goes into the metal chest
@lukelcs8934Ай бұрын
@@LeoNidas-c8g You only start doing different chests for different kinds of woods when you have so much wood you can't fit all of the wood types in one chest, or if you plan to long-term. As for Iron ore and ingots being in different places- I can kinda see it under some circumstances? But that'll really depend on where you need it, and ideally it makes the most sense to keep all of your crafting stations related to iron close to each other if possible anyways. You would definitely not want spoiled food to be in the same chest as the non-spoiled food, but besides that he goes kinda OCD (in the non-medical pop-culture sense... altho then again based off his behavior and mental breakdown over it...) Not that I judge mind you, but it's far more than most people will ever need or want, and frankly more of a headache to manage than not. Would be great if the game somehow auto-sorted your food by how close it was for spoiling tho, that's something everyone (me) could appreciate. Being that this particular example is a fictional game, and that most of my crafting survival game experience is with Minecraft and Terraria, all this is speculation on what I would do, but I think it all checks out. Also, it's been mentioned elsewhere that a dump chest or "to be sorted chest" is useful, and frankly I will have chests near various projects that just generally contain resources I need for that project. Like the building blocks I'm using, maybe some decorative blocks, ect. And these would DEFINITELY get a little messy sometimes, but honestly in the particular Minecraft world I'm thinking of, I was fairly organized. Or at least- organized enough for my needs lol

Damn, this is sooooo accurate! I feel his pain! Because: 1. You make order so it will be easy to supervise (maintaining stock, etc.); 2. Then some lazy individual with zillions of excuses that he/she "doesn't have time", "is too tired", "is overwhelmed" takes things and places them back who knows where just because it was easier for HIM to place it there; 3. Then you arrange all this mess after everyone and keep kicking them for it; 4. Then you get called a "maniac", "fascist", "OCD guy", etc.; 5. Then you say just "F* IT!" and do not care anymore; 6. Mess increases so no one can find anything anymore unless they spend an hour searching for it (I was keeping time when observing this); 7. And then the very same people who called you whatever they could come up with start complaining that there is a mess. Damn! Order, cleanliness, cosiness and efficiency is not where people clean constantly, but where people do not sh*t around all the time. ))))

I haven't played survival games but this sketch reminds me of two other places where the same discussions happen: one is a shared kitchen with family or housemates where food and cooking utensils are either dumped across all over surfaces or someone attempts some order in the limited space available. The other is how recycling plants expect us to separate different products into extremely obscure categories, up to a point where we start to question ¨why doesn't iron ore go with just generic iron?¨. The only thing missing would be a person looking on counting money from selling oil and plastic, who represents the fossil fuel industry

This is why i am the camp quarter master. The others can raid, pillage, scavenge. But back at base, i run R&D, i organise, i craft and place them into their proper spot. My system is so that all players can get what they need without thought, and while they are away, i am restocking, crafting, and organizing. The camp is always functional, players know where to get the items they need, and if they don't have it, i get it. All it costs to the other players is raw resources and a little bit of waiting on the odd occasion.
