Regarding any advertising you may see: I don't monetized anything on KZbin. However, (c) holders for the music are given permission to run ads when their content is IDed on upload. The ads you're seeing are placed by them (artist//label/publisher/google/etc). Unfortunately, I have absolutely no control over them. I never see them as I have a KZbin Premium/Music account (~$12 a month for no ads across KZbin). The other option is to get a free Adblocker for your browser (there are a bunch for Chrome/Firefox/etc). Some have said if you skip to the end of a video and click replay it'll play the video w ads on the replay. But yeah, sorry, they're not by/for me and I can't prevent them.

Man what a show this was. My first dave show... camped at Lee's, brought 2 kegs and forgot most of this night. I somehow got to the show without my ticket, most of its hazy - I browned out if you will - but I remember most of the show, this song specifically pulled me out of my drunken drug filled stupor and I remember just being absolutely entranced by the magic of the Dave Matthew's band. Fast forward to the end of the show, I leave just sort of following the crowd, thinking I'll just find my way to Lee's (which if you dont know, is nowhere near spac). As the crowd dissipates I realize I am completely alone and totally lost. I stumble past a random subway shop...and inside are two of my best friends who I came to the show with, who also ended up there on equally ridiculous circumstances. Now that theres 3 of us on the same false sense of drunk righteousness, we figure theres no way we cant make it to Lee's from here. Wrong. It's about a 15 minute drive from where we are. Our phones are almost dead and were still completely lost, so we stop at a gas station to get a charger. I say to my buddy "how the fuck are we gonna get to Lee's?" When a voice echoes out of a car "yo did you say Lee's? Hop in!" So we hitched a ride from this random stranger with one of his friends who was essentially unconcious in the back seat back to Lee's, find the group and have an amazing story to tell, and the excitement of knowing night two was ahead. I left out tons of details and doubt this even makes sense, but god damn I'll never forget this time in my life and I'll always come back here to reminisce. In the face of this fucking crazy time right now, I hope all of you are ok and make it through this for the next dave show, specifically spac to create more lifelong memories and ridiculous stories as long as we can. Stay safe everyone

Bela and Jeff were amazing on the Solo. I just wanted to bring up how insanely awesome Carter's drumming was during it as well. The whole band can be argued some of the best musicians at their respective instruments.

Agree in terms of Carter and Roi, they are masters in their instruments. Dave isn’t anything special on guitar, but as part of a band, he’s legendary in my opinion. The band is very unique.

This is EASILY the best version of Dreaming Tree I've ever heard
@bryanharrell20049 жыл бұрын
Marc Bollinger was this your first time hearing man ? with that statement this must be the ONLY version you have heard....I suggest listening a version with leroi or something in 2000/prior......I find this version stale & goes nowhere, along with non-fitting horns that Rashawn typically brings....
@scottweiss6089 жыл бұрын
Marc Bollinger I agree with Marc. I have seen several versions of DT with leroi and others. This version was special. Love how Jeff and Bela have a conversation -- they are clearly connected musicians. Not that I like to compare versions, but this version stood out for me. (I was there at SPAC that night). You can even see it in Dave's face and Stefan's face -- they are enjoying it as much as we are! Thank you CC5 for all you give to us.
@greeenpro20097 жыл бұрын
Marc Bollinger that's part of the magic of this band. At least for me, I have a hard time determining what the best version of any given song that I like of theirs. The music meets me where I'm at and One version on one day I can be the best I've ever heard. Another day, another version could be the best I've ever heard. I guess that's the mark of a legendary band. Love these guys.Piedmont Park is a good version too. It's more subtle.

One of my favorite songs by DMB! Having said that, I'm not sure I like the way that Carter is playing the 7/8 groove during the first verse. He's not playing it like he normally does, which is a very improvisational style of playing. Instead, he's playing it like Neil Peart would. It's hard to explain in a short comment. I haven't listened to the rest of it because I wanted to make this comment first. Maybe he plays the rest of the song like he normally does. Don't get me wrong. I'm a huge DMB fan and an even bigger Carter Beauford fan. Just felt like mentioning something.
@zavienstickler25399 жыл бұрын
+drewper73 I was there for this one, I love Dreaming Tree, but the only thing that kinda got me down on this version is how Carter plays it. You're exactly right. I saw them again a few days after SPAC, at Blossom, they played this again and Carter went back to his old way of playing this song.

Zavien Stickler I'm glad other people not only noticed the difference in Carter's groove, but were also a little put off by it. It makes me wonder why he would try playing the verse groove that way in the first place. Maybe he ended up playing it that way via improvisation. If that was the case, you'd think that he would notice the big change in the feel and immediately change to a different groove. The psychology of performance and improvisation. Is there any money to be made in that field? God knows my friends and I have pondered why certain drummers play this and that instead of playing that and this. Very interesting, to me anyway.
@zavienstickler25399 жыл бұрын
+drewper73 I think he played it this way because it's straight forward. It was their first time playing it in about a year, and the last time they played it, it was a disaster. So I think carter was trying to play it safe and stick with the straight forward rhythm rather than sticking to his old style. So when they played it again at blossom a few days after spac, Carter must have had more confidence in the song to go back to his old ways.

This is one of the songs on Before These Crowded Streets on which Bela Fleck didn't play. That's okay though.
