Chesterfield French Car Day at Staveley Hall - Chesterfield Motor Fest 2022

It's August and I should have been on my annual pilgrimage to Brands Hatch down in Kent for Festival Italia, just as I have the previous few years. A change of car resulted in a change of plan and an opportunity to fire up the 1997 Megane Coupe and head out to a car show that would suit the Renault very well indeed.
Staveley Hall is located roughly half way between the M1 motorway and Chesterfield and made for a wonderful backdrop for the cars on a warm summers day. There were a selection of cars from mainstream manufacturers Renault, Peugeot and Citroen from across the decades, Modern and Classic Alpine but also many marques long since gone such as Simca, Talbot and Matra.

I do think it's great how you get the stories of all the owners and their passion for their cars, that you can't get just by seeing the cars. A lot of effort and love goes into them! I have a Citroen C4 VTS which i think is fantastic, the Xsara VTS is properly nice and underappreciated and rare too! I'd love to drive one and compare, reckon the lower weight of the Xsara would make it feel much sprightlier!

Yes I agree, it's the personnel experience from the interviews that I really like. It's something that's just involved from the video over time. C4 VTS must be an increasingly rare car these days too. I'd forgotten about those to be honest.

@@markonmotoring Yeah the C4 VTS didnt sell well to start with and it has declined over time. There's the C4 VTS 180 (my car with the evolution of the Xsara VTS engine), VTS HDI (diesel), VTS Loeb 180 (super super rare, most were 1.6s), and the facelifted C4 VTS, with the 1.6 turbo from the Mini. I've done a C4 video, it's actually my most watched! For what is a 'normal' car it's so quirky and exciting, just need to get it working again after doing a cambelt change and other bits...

Xsara Coupe VTS very underated car , think the last time I seen a Xsara was the first Hubnut Social at the Motorist. Those 4CVs look amazing , front very similar to the Minor and Beetle. I hope Renault bring back the Renault 5 especially if it looks like the concept. Well done on the win for the Mégane.

I think the Hubnut Social last year was probably the last I saw too. I have since seen a five door but not a coupe (well a three door). The 4CV were wonder, I'd not seem them in the metal before. I think the five is coming back as an EV.
