That is more Merle Travis pickin' the 3rd&4th together.. Chet alternated 1-3-2-3... in the bass.

Nope. He did lot’s of different things including copying some Merle-isms

No..its more Chet style than Merle who mostly just went E string to D string while often catching the A with the E & the G with the D.

In the keys of A and E ,I don't note my bass strings, play them open.
