I appreciate the "signal" flashing ability of a forward clicky, but really love the half-press-while-on to change modes of a reverse clicky. I think whoever figures out how to make one mechanical switch that does both is gonna make a lot of people happy... Nicely done!

Great explanation about forward and reverse clicky

Clear explanation, man I wish I could change the UI of olight i3T instead of low and then high I'd love to make it go straight high and then low

Thanks again for the info. Just subbed a couple days ago and wasn't quite sure what types each of my lights were. Just knew they were different. I knew my FW3C was an E-switch and I understand that one, just didn't understand the difference between mechanical switches. I haven't documented it, but my FW3 doesn't lose much battery over a month of no use. I do a Batt Check often and it's still at 4.1V.

Nice video and explanation! I guess I came to prefer FC switches for momentary ON. Most of my lights are modded, and configured to have "no memory"/always starts on the lowest! 🔦

Hey great explanation. I am trying to convert a flashlight into a bike light and not use the existing reverse clicky switch in the back. It is a Keygos M10. I want to mount a switch on my handle bar. Is there a micro version of the switch or is it possible to make a momentary switch for it? My idea was to use a micro switch. Is this the reverse/forward action determined by the driver? Thanks
@cheule Жыл бұрын
Whether a switch is forward or backward click it determined by the switch itself. I’ve swapped many reverse/forward switches on lights without changing the driver.

@@cheule Ok so my plan is to make a mount for the front end of my torch and make a bar mounted switch what switch should I buy? Are smaller switches able to handle the current from my 26650 cell?

I found this super helpful thank you! is it possible to turn a forward clicky light into a reverse clicky ?
@cheule Жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I usually do the opposite to be honest, I’ll remove reverse clickies and replace them with forward clicky McClicky switches.

Anduril 2 is out now with simple mode (group?) and advanced. Two worlds. Lots of new features and some system changes like allowing more time between clicks when configuring, and some new methods of setting floor to ceiling. Have you checked it out?

Would the Weltool T12 have to have e-elements since it is both forward AND reverse?
@cheule6 ай бұрын
If I recall correctly (I gave my T12 to a friend), it has a side eSwitch and a mechanical tail switch. I think the tail switch was a forward clicky. But again don’t quote me.
@NavinJ86 ай бұрын
@@cheule I have one-there’s just a tail switch that you can half-press for momentary (forward clicky), but then once it clicks, it’s on a different mode, as if a reverse-clicky. Half-press once it’s in to cycle between two modes. So since it’s sort of a combo reverse/forward I was just wondering where it would fit into the discussion, and if that’s still considered mechanical.

It's pretty easy to signal with reversed clicky. Just use something to block the light temporarily or point the light downward.
@cheule2 жыл бұрын
Much more cumbersome. If signaling is a priority, reverse clickies should be avoided IMO.

Pop quiz: L8 or L7? Feel like I need one of them in my life.
@cheule2 жыл бұрын
L8 is a slight upgrade IMO. If you already have an L7, they are too close to get the L8. But the L8 has a boost driver and a slightly redesigned reflector. But things that might detract are it's a single 26800 (which could be problematic charging on a stand alone because of it's length), and I really got the L7 because I liked the "maglite" feel of the long tube. I didn't want another K1 looking light.
