I was one among the comment section who asked for an episode of GBNF for Chevy. Glad that you guys have answered to our call..(missed a Cruze in this video) Being a Chevy Spark owner my vehicle is a 2009 LTZ model and still runs solid. The riding comfort is so smooth even after 14 years and a boon in the tight city traffic. I will still hold on to it for another 5 years. ❤️

The Cruz and Aveo were amazing tho. My family owned a Spark buying which was a mistake. This was rectified by purchasing a 2011 VDi Maruti Ritz which is still a faithful second car to today. These videos are beautiful and bring back memories of my middle school days when I used to read Overdrive cover to cover, especially the last pages which contained all the car specs ❤ Ps: The diesel Ritz with a 1.3l unit makes about 73 bhp with 190 Nm of torque 😜

@@3rdclasstatamahindrabajajRE much better build quality. The current hatches of their lineups feel like toys to drive comparatively. The first ever car that i bought with my own money was the Chevrolet Spark. That was back in 2008. It was great little car and it served me well for 5 years, ~45k kms. It was the best looking car in the segment with a cute design and a nice, refined 1.0 liter engine. It also had a funky interior with the speedometer and telltale lights in the middle instead of behind the steering. I was really sad the day i sold it, after all it was my first car!

We had 2012 Chevrolet Tavera Neo 2 LT. My father bought it after his retirement from MSRTC. He used to rent it out as tourist vehicle. Actually we were out to buy Toyota Innova but my Dad wanted top variant of any vehicle we buy and Innova was little expensive for us so we settled for Tavera top variant. My dad put 11" Panasonic screen and Panasonic DVD Player in it. He had done trips like Mumbai - Velamkani, Mumbai - Bhopal, various trips to our native place in Kokan, Maharashtra. Sadly we lost my father in Nov-2012 so had to sell Tavera after 14-16 months of ownership. I was too young to have a car like Tavera so my mother didn't allowed me to keep it. Only issue we faced with Tavera back then was Suspension. It had very bumpy ride. If I get a chance to buy back our Tavera I'll definitely buy it.

I was a proud owner of Chevrolet spark, which, we replaced with a new i10 nios a few months ago. I have to accept the fact that the spark was indeed a better car to drive than the nios, especially when it comes to performance. The spark also felt well put together. It didn't rattle even after 13 years of ownership. The stability of the car was awesome even at 150kmph. The interior felt premium with the beige and black colour combination. Ironically, the plastics used in the spark were much better than the ones used in the nios. I think the GM korea products were much better than their rivals in india.

The Renault Duster definitely deserves an episode in this series. Laden with the powerful yet frugal 1.5 K9K DCi, the Duster kicked-off the compact SUV segment in India. It was known for its exemplary ride quality which is still a benchmark, years after its demise. The AWD variant was a legendary, one-of-a-kind offering that no other manufacturer could match. Please, the Duster needs more love. Please make a story on this absolutely epic machine.

I never thought I'd actually enjoy a review of the Tavera!! We had one experience with a General Motors car - the Opel Astra. My Mom bought it. We actually really liked the ride of the car and in its time it felt very luxurious. Only thing was that when she took delivery of this luxury car - a few meters outside the dealership she discovered that the fuel tank was about to fall off. Oh and though she had paid for a Blaupunkt system it was delivered without it. All was well after my Mom published an article in the papers that covered her experience! HM, GM probably not the best JV idea!

When I was living in India, i had an experience of the Tavera..... when I was somewhat 5-6 years old, we went to Shimla, Kulu- Manali, we had booked a cab and it was a white Tavera, i dont know whether it was Neo, but yeah it was very very spacious, it also had captain chairs unfortunately i don't remember anything else but the driver whose name was Sunil and he gave me candy every day (a Parle MangoBite) and I use to eat it in the jumpseats and throw the wrappers somewhere below it,( I was too little and stupid to understand ;) ) But yeah, as you said, there wasn't anything special about this car, and maybe that's the reason I don't remember much about this car as it didnt captivate my attention. Also since or maybe that age, I was a car guy, and I was pretty much into cars....

I have traveled hundreds of kilometers in the Tavera.. It had good AC, performance was fine, not very unreliable and had an overall robust feel. There were only 2 issues - Choppy ride due to leaf springs - Clattery Motor

The cruze - briefly a segment leader, Spark - a solid no nonsense hatch and the Beat - a very funky hatch ahead of its time. Opel Corsa - the car of the millennium (remember the ad ?) Are you saving the good ones for another episode 😅

Chevy (especially at this time period) was also a cost saving’s brand for us here in the states. It still is to some extent.

Back in the day as Sirish said after the Qualis, Tavera was the numero uno choice of the cab operators due to its tough nature, reliable engine and decent fuel efficiency and it was a decently popular household name too, but the Tavera never stood for comfort or luxury if anything it stood as a budget friendly low cost alternative to say the Innova. Even I remember way back when we used to plan a Pune-Shirdi round trip and along with my grandparents we were a total of 6people we sometimes used to choose the Tavera due to the significant cost difference to say if we had hired an Innova from the same operator, also the latter being so popular was almost never available due to heavy demand which left us b/w this and the Scorpio which was even more bumpy and used to give my mother crazy motion sickness therefore leaving the Tavera as the only choice. Though personally I never liked the Tavera especially because I and my elder brother were thrown in the jump seats which was too uncomfortable for long distances, in comparison the Innova’s 3rd row bench seating felt like a magic carpet to us. Tavera was at its best in its final avatar when it had a more powerful and refined 2.0Turbo Diesel BS4 compliant engine but by then competition had moved too ahead Tavera died a slow and painful death. PS- IMHO GM never did a genuine effort in making cars, they just kept on slapping bow ties on any car they wanted and dumped it on the Indian market doesn’t matter it’s good or bad and never invested in full fledged R&D though credit should be given where its due their Service was top class and costs were kept in check too, I hope to see GM soon back in India along with its American friend Ford with proper homework and full enthusiasm of pursuing market share of Indian automobile market!
