Went in to Lockhart Basin to get a Chevy truck that had broken the rear driveshaft. Snow conditions at the beginning of the day had us worried, but turned out to be a good day.

I have a mostly stock Ram 3500 4x4 and have looked at driving some of these trails. Seems like a Level 3 trail is about as extreme as one would want to do with a pickup (Lockhart = level 5). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thin aluminum tubing with a cardboard reinforcing liner - sounds like a workable driveline configuration to me! That rock sure put a crimp in the driveline. I'm surprised Chevy didn't have their PR people out there doing a photo shoot of their product in such beautiful, rugged surroundings. The caption could have been, "Rugged Chevrolets will get you into the most beautiful, desolate country to get broken down in." Your work is really time-intensive in this back country - that job must have taken you at least 4-5 hours just to get to it, and haul that truck out of there. Clever fix for the transfer case fluid, and good commentary.

Since 90% of these Chevy/ GMC vehicles are made in foreign countries, as well as their parts! Makes you wonder which part of Asia or South America they were made in. I was looking at some Walmart hypertroph and heart tools day before yesterday at Walmart and I noted that's the socket sets that their marketing are no longer made in China but in Vietnam posted that on Facebook and all my Vietnamese American friends gave me big thumbs UPS Walmart battery chargers house brand are made in Vietnam also think I got three of them. 8 years ago I bought As rock 775 motherboards for computers I was surprised that they were made in Vietnam.

Rory lives by the "Code" of BLM/NPS/UTStateParks, Native Lands et al, ETC! That is where and how he earns his living. They respect him because he respects them and advocates their cause. WHY would he jeopardize his dinner ticket to pull a stunt that brings him no remuneration? If anybody has an idea of who did it, probably Rory does. I suppose the various agency 'cops' have already questioned him. Rory lives in a 'small town' so please don't question or doubt him. As one of the good guys we should support and uphold him. I know it has no business even attempting those rocks. But there again, mine is set for winter in the rust belt. 3000 dollar vehicle, great shape. 1000 bucks of rust protection I did myself. BTW.
