I had a '16 Camaro I4 turbo and traded it in on an '18 Camaro RS V6 and I love my car. The only mod I have done was a MRT exhaust muffler delete...sounds awesome. I don't live near a track so I don't do track days. The 335hp is plenty of power for a daily driver. Also the highway gas mileage is great. Last year I took a cross country road trip for Kentucky to Colorado, total of about 2850 miles round trip, I averaged 28.9 mpg for the entire trip including driving through Rocky Mountain National Park. Just on the highway I averaged just over 31 mpg. I'm doing just fine without the V8.

I even smoked a camaro ss from early 2000s. These with a manual transmission are on of the last naturally aspirated v6s cars thats rear wheel drive and sporty. I bought a V6 Mustang in 2012 with a manual trans. It was what I could afford. Over the years I slowly modified it culminating with a P1SC1 Procharger. It dyno’d at 415 rwhp. Very light and very quick, a blast to drive. Car has 111K miles (20K since Procharger) and the only repair has been a water pump. I’ve gotten a lot out of the total investment.

Had a 13 V6 Camaro myself. Let me tell you, everyone underrated the hell out of my little car. Wound up putting a 100 shot on it, was spanking 5th gen SS ass left and right. Even beat a few ZL1s (doesn’t stand a chance against the 6th gens). Upgraded to a 14 2SS almost a year ago and I can guarantee that the V6 could hold its own against the SS. My dad is still bummed I sold the V6 😂
@EliBTR5.34 жыл бұрын
This has actually changed the way I feel about the V6 Camaro. My whole interpretation of a V6 Camaro before was the sound I would always hear from people modifying the exhaust of their 4th gens that sounded like trash when they would try to make them sound like V8s. This exhaust note from this V6 is music to my ears.

Glad you spoke about the visibility on the Camaro. Rented an SS in Maui and couldn't see out of the back. They said they would give us a convertible,ok. Downside, you can drop the top with the luggage in the trunk. At the end of the day we ended up in a 5.0 convertible that had no problem dropping the top with the luggage in trunk. I own a 2011 synergy green RS- 2LT and absolutely love it. Price was not any part of a deciding factor when I bought it, and I actually searched for the 3.6 manual. I got used to the visibility quickly, and never notice it anymore. It's got plenty of power for real world driving on the street, it handles like a dream, the style is pure sex, and after all this time, it still makes me smile. Especially at current gas prices, and full coverage costs me $630 a year.

So I owned a 2017 V6 Mustang manual for two years. Did a MPT tune, 3.55 gears, Roush axle back. Did about 25K miles. Was it a fun car? Sure. Did it have enough power? I guess. Was it affordable? Absolutely, bought it brand new for a bargain. Did constantly wish I could afford a GT? Yes. The V6 Mustang and Camaro are fun cars, but it's like being really thirsty and getting a cold glass of water. Sure, you're satisfied, but you'd really love a smoothie instead. But you can't afford a smoothie. So you're stuck with the water. That's the best way I can describe it.

I imagine that it’s fun to have but too many people would ask the annoying question why didn’t you get the v8.
@chorseundgrd4 жыл бұрын
@@tomdubois3062 Yep, got that a bunch. The answer is always the obvious, "I don't have enough money for the V8". The V6 brand new with tax/title/tag was nearly 10k cheaper than the list price of the cheapest GTs I could find and that's without adding tax/title/tag to the GT price. I quoted insurance and the V6 was literally half the cost of insurance on the GT (I pay bi-annual). One thing I will say about the V6 muscle cars is that you can get them used or new for a steal. They're very affordable.

@leeginsburg72154 жыл бұрын
"What Was the Point of V6 Muscle Cars?" The problem isn't the question, it's the premise. Camaro (and Mustang/Challenger), are not muscle cars, they are pony cars. Pony cars have always had a V6 (or even 4 cyl) option. Muscle cars by definition, have muscle. V8 pony cars can be called/considered muscle cars, but it's really more of an overlap than anything. Remember, the birth of muscle cars (arguably, but most agreed upon) was with the 1964 Pontiac GTO, because it was basically a package on the Tempest. The "muscle" version
