Thanks for the review! It just confirms that we made a good choice. We're getting our 2RS AWD this week :) A quick question though: have you experienced any issues with the glare in the windshield (from the dashboard)? Some people raised some safety concerns about that. Thanks!
@Eventurefamily3 ай бұрын
That's a great question. Personally, I haven't had any issues even of very sunny days, but my wife says it's terrible for her, especially with the glare on the screen. I only really ever notice the reflection of the 5 little emergency lights on the dash.

I would love to know how to eliminate this as well.

As suggested on some forums, I tested polarized sunglasses. They work well!

@@Eventurefamily Same glare reflection problem and patterned too. Have to put on polarized clipons as dash glare is totally distracting. Also the dash is so way too deep imo. Why is that? Missing and could use a dash shelf to keep glasses on, receipts, cards etc. And why is there not a sunglasses storage area above the rear mirror to have those polarized glasses handy?

Terrible terrible glare! Reflection off dashboard. The absolute worst part of the car. From SUNNY Colorado.

I've double checked mine and still nothing for me since I picked it up. I'm seeing many owners are starting to get updates this week, so I'll keep checking.

Thoughts on the exterior music pedestrian alert when the vehicle is in drive or reverse??

I don't love it. The first week or so I couldn't stand it and wished you could turn it off, but now I've gotten used to it and zone it out. I think maybe I've grown to love the little song.

I have a FWD 2RS, and it's PLENTY powerful! It's not designed for drag racing. 🙄
@Eventurefamily3 ай бұрын
Absolutely. Performance isn't a priority for this vehicle and nowhere does it say anything about it being designed for performance use cases. It's just that compared to other EVs in the segment, it's one of the lower powered ones. Still though, it's more than adequate for having some fun and getting safely onto highways. It's still better than any ICE vehicle in the segment.

Do you still have the Rivian?

Concerning OTA's.......I have owned a LYRIQ for almost two years and have had 9 OTA's. Just none since Sept 2023.
@Eventurefamily3 ай бұрын
That's a huge difference between the two years! I saw some reports that there is a recent OTA update for the Equinox but mine doesn't seem to have received it yet. It's definitely not in the same ballpark as Tesla or Rivian. It would be great to get more regular updates and trust that the vehicle could continuously be improved, but I suppose it's ok since the software is pretty solid.

@@EventurefamilyThere’s two recent SWU’s for the Equinox actually. The first updates the updater, I’m not sure what the second addresses, but I believe they’re listed on GM’s site.

Can I ask why you replaced your model y? We were considering an equinox ev but the more we look at the battery charging issues we are leaning towards Tesla.
@Eventurefamily3 ай бұрын
The Tesla ended up getting totaled during a storm here, but I didn't want to replace it with another Tesla because I wanted something new and to see how other manufacturers were doing with their EVs. I've been very impressed with the Equinox and the charging hasn't been a problem for us. I miss Tesla much less than I thought I would.

Looks nice but still a no go without android auto. I am guessing some apps will never be available that are common on phones and syncing messages between devices doesn't always work. Like I get my texts messages from my phone to my android tablet most of the time, but not always and sometime they become unlinked especially after an update. And I saw you will need to buy data access from AT&T for the built in apps to work while of course your phone has unlimited data already. I wanted an Equinox at one time but we have an Ioniq 5 now, it does support android auto and carplay.
@Eventurefamily3 ай бұрын
I understand that it's a deal breaker for many, but it hasn't been an issue at all for me. Messages come in 100% of the time reliably for me, all of the apps I'd use with CarPlay except for Apple Music are available, and I prefer the UI, especially for navigation and routing far better than projected via CarPlay. If you absolutely need some of the functionality of Android Auto, I get it, but I found I didn't miss it at all.

We also have a Tesla Y which also famously does not have CarPlay or Android Auto. So now we’re used to that and used to the idea of saying “Hey Siri” a lot. Took us about a week in each vehicle to get used to not having CP. I am even able to access my Apple Play playlists through Siri commands. Haven’t tried to access the Apple Play library in either car because I’m pretty sure it won’t do that, so haven’t tried.

Great idea! I will save this for a future video. Even at 100% it's definitely not a rocket like many other EVs, but I haven't tried it much down below 25% yet.
