I have a 2104 GMC Serria, my oil pressure is running high, and my code read P06DD, could it be my sensor unit. The engine light came on. just had an Oil Change a few days ago now the light is off without me erasing it. What do you think? 197,000 miles

I just had the same thing. But I haven't changed the oil on it yet. As a matter of fact my OBD reads three codes all the same number but my oil level and pressure is doing fine. I'll post another comment if my code clears after the oil change.

The point of the video? Changing the oil is your diagnosis? I have a 2014 Silverado that started popping this code following a recent dealership oil change. I made it 2-3 miles after leaving the service department when the CEL came on. I looked at my gauges, temp was good, alternator was charging, oil pressure was 65-70 psi, (normally has been between 40-50 since I bought it new). Went back to the shop, they plugged it in to read the code, was po6dd, oil solenoid issue. They cleared the code after checking oil level and connections, said they believed dirt or debris had likely passed thru sensor(s). I drove it home, oil pressure was closer to normal but still higher than usual. Drove it another six miles later that afternoon, deer hunted for four hours, on the way home oil pressure went as high as 80psi and the CEL was triggered again. The next morning, the shop checked the solenoid connections and wiring, replaced the oil filter believing it was defective, test drove it and sent me home with it. Again, the oil pressure was closer to normal. One day later, today, I drove it 100 miles at interstate speeds. The oil pressure was 65-80 psi again, but no CEL this time. I do not believe for one second that a part failed. I am thinking about dumping the oil out and changing the filter out again using a different brand of filter (NAPA is what they used) and oil other than the bulk oil they used. I have 125k miles on it, have taken care of the truck having it serviced religiously. I’m not going to pay them diagnostic fees and their labor rates to replace parts until the problem is located. Their computer has not told them what is wrong, they are guessing at this point obviously. I suggested that they should check the filter to be sure it was correct size and installed properly. Other videos on here say change oil pump, solenoid, oil pressure sending unit, pcv valve, replace wire harnesses and connections, one guy even suggests it’s caused by an o2 sensor on the same circuit but has nothing to do with the oil pressure. Changing my oil started this problem, oil and filter is the obvious place to start.
@teddysmith108311 күн бұрын
Hi Randall, kind of going through the same issue here and a recent engine oil change then all these codes popped up any update on your situation it would help a ton
@randalsmith732410 күн бұрын
@@teddysmith1083 No cel light since changing the oil filter out again. Still having higher than normal oil pressure especially on colder days. Haven’t driven it much since the last post. I am still thinking a spec of dirt is in one of the sensors or oil pressure sending unit.

I’m getting P06DD AFTER replacing the oil pump. I am hearing the same kind of hydraulic whirring noise as well. I am also seeing low oil pressure around 16psi at idle and 21.5 at 3500rpm. L83 2017 Tahoe, freshly rebuilt engine dod delete, everything new, it has me stumped.
@ThecardoctorTV Жыл бұрын
Is it possible your engine has internal damage?
@snivesz32 Жыл бұрын
@@ThecardoctorTV I don’t think so, oil is clean. I’ve crossed off many possibilities and am left with focusing on the oil gallery barbell. I used an Improved Racing Barbell, the one with a seal on each end. Their marketing said more oil flow, more filtration, but i think that’s actually a lie now. I think GM made the stock nylon barbell with no seal on one end purposefully. My theory is that the oil filter will pose up to a 15psi pressure gradient drop across the filter media (not more because of its internal oil bypass.) So, sealing off the two sides of the oil filter completely would guarantee a 15psi loss from whatever the pump is making. If i were making my same numbers plus 15 I would be at the proper oil pressure. I’ll report back.

Hi car doctor, I have a question and I'd appreciate your help. I have a 2000 chevy 454 big block, 94000 miles. New fuel pump, new fuel tank. It runs great, cruises along nice on the highway. But, when I am going a out 40-50 miles per hour and I begin to hit an incline at a low rpm the truck gets a shake, kind of like it's not getting the fuel it needs. I take my foot off of the gas and push the throttle to about 50 percent and it down shifts and then runs fine up the hill, doesn't seem to have the power it should.

But my oil pressure is working fine I've researched the pressures at idle and driving. Mine are right on track and I keep an eye on my oil levels. Oh and I've never heard any noises from my engine either. Any thoughts on this. The code worries me a little. Oh and the code is every once in a while not everyday of week. Thanks

jfyi, the connector behind water pump gets dry rotted from oil sludge behind time cover.. Then cracks and wicks oil. If you pull connector and find oil, the oil pump needs replaced, along with that electrical wire. To prevent it from happening ever again, Add Gasket maker to the wires where it goes through the time cover, and use your fingers to mold the maker into a ramp to prevent oil from sludging there ever again #FailedDesign I tried to tell GM about it, but they didn't care.

I LOVE Chevys..been a Chevy guy since i was a kid. However...these new trucks are terrible. We have had the P06DD code hit every one of the 2018 Silverados in our fleet. $1400-$1500 to repair each one of them...some of our trucks have less than 60,000 miles on them.. I NEVER had issues like this with the older 5.3 and 6.0L engines in our 2004 Silverados. They ran to well over 225,000 miles without anything like this. We thought we were upgrading our fleet when we got the 2018's...what a mistake that was! These new DOD AFM engines are junk.
