I have to learn more about this. I think this would be a great engine for a 914

More of a big block guy but it sounds pretty damn good for a 6 cylinder. Gives me a bit of inspiration for a carbbed dodge 3.5 build for my Pontiac Sunfire.

@@MrNeildrake I appreciate that. I will! The stock 4.3 with a turbo in it runs good now. Making about 400hp with the upgrades that I have done. But the engine has 117k miles on it, and with my driving and sometimes DragRacing I bet it will blow up soon. Then I will Get one of these LV1’s

Seriously sick man! What type of rpm range would this be happiest? I built up an old 2002 4.3 with ported vortecs and a mild cam etc. but it’s not as mean as this. Does this have a balance shaft still?

I was just doing initial fire up for a minute without cooling. Break in and dyno were done after. Cost was under 2k. I bought engine as core for $500 and had to get cam ground, valve spring kit, gaskets and head bolts etc.

Hey Mr.Neil, sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you can give me some help with how to torque my rocker arms on my Lv3 4.3. I'm almost at the finish line, just stuck on my rockers. Ive look at how to properly torque LS rockers but from my understanding its not the same.

Torque to 22 lb.ft when cam is on or near base circle. There’s a good reference manual on sdparts.com. If you search for their LV3 DOD delete kit, there’s a “documents” tab. In there is a .pdf with all torque specs and sequences. Much thanks to Scoggin Dickee for postin that for us. Good luck, Neil

Stock cam and crank sensors? I was told the newer sensors send a different signal the say like an ls ?
@MrNeildrake
@MrNeildrake Жыл бұрын
I can’t confirm it’s different signal than LS but connector on gen V crank sensor is different. It has 58 tooth reluctor wheel and the crank sensor has 3 pins: 5v from ecu, sensor ground and signal. ICT billet sells an adapter pigtail to convert the gen v crank sensor to LS connector for those using Holley or similar harness/ecu so I would assume signal is same.

Ive been kicking around the idea of running one of these v6, trying to get weight off the nose. Does that ignition have any boost reference to pull timing?
@MrNeildrake
@MrNeildrake Жыл бұрын
Absolutely, the timing curve can have MAP as variable. It can even switch ignition map on the fly with input…eg if nitrous is enabled.

What ignition system are you using and what intake manifold is that
@MrNeildrake
@MrNeildrake Жыл бұрын
Check out Performance Electronics pe-ltd.com/product/pe3-ig2/ I used their PE3-IG2 ecu and ran the stock coils with wasted spark configuration. Intake manifold was homemade sheet metal unit. On dyno it made 350hp top end but suffered too much with torque. I ended up running downdraft webers with this engine in a 1965 el Camino with T5 tranny

@MrNeildrake Жыл бұрын
correct, long block was about $2k. Ignition and harness was $700, headers $250 (ebay for L83), intake was homebuilt but had $120 ICT billet flanges, and carb I had from another project. Example long block costs at time I purchased were: long block core:$500, Cam grind $150 (American Custom Cam), DOD delete kit $400(Scoggin Dickee), Springs and Ti retainers $350 (Texas Speed), Pushrods $150 (BTR), Oil pan $350 (Moroso used for L83 ebay), ICT billet block-off plugs etc $100
