Theres a curiosity anongst readers. Specs show a forged steel crank as OEM, but ive heard customer reports of an Iron crank in factory stock lv3. What's your observations? Nice build 👍👍

The oil additive didn’t make more power…you guys heated the oil temp that’s why it had less oil pressure and gained power…you say you guys cooled it back down to match the coolant temp as the previous pulls but the oil temp didn’t cool down…Hot oil + Cold Coolant = Max power

Could you please do a video on how you adapted a distributor to the engine. That would be very interesting.

You definitely don't need such an exhaust biased cam pattern. Look up David Vizard's cam theory (and Cattledog Garage's recent cam equivalence video) in order to spec a cam that will net you close to or above 1.4ft-lbs per cubic inch with those heads and gain power everywhere on the curve compared to the current cam.
@MrNeildrake
@MrNeildrake 3 ай бұрын
I respectfully disagree with your statement. Vizard literally wrote the book on getting best performance on head and cam work but my experience is that the increased duration on exhaust does better on dyno with my combos. I guess you’d have to say that folks like BTR are doing all their cams wrong. Everything they make has more duration on exhaust. They test more than any of us.

I'm confused. No fuel line connected, but I imagine the bowls were filled, and the passenger header front tube is cut right before the collector?
@MrNeildrake
@MrNeildrake 4 ай бұрын
Yes, bowls were filled. The headers have been used on both V8 and V6 versions so they’ve been cut and reassembled a couple times

Any more info on this? This is exactly what I'm looking to do. Don't need a radical 4.3 just a mild build. Does it fit with all the front accessories? Was going to do a V8 but I would think the V6 fits better and would be plenty of power.

I want to swap an LV1 or 3 into a Porsche 914. Where would I get the carb intake and what options would I have for a distributor? Or do they make a stand alone controller for coils like the kit for the LS?

4.3’s will always be bad ass no matter what model they are. Even the stock 20-teen era V6’s make great power! My brother has a 16 Silverado with a 4.3 and it is absolutely no slouch! Chevy knows they have to compete with fords ever-impressive ecoboost engines and I’d say they’ve done it! Especially in terms of reliability.

So, correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like your header collector isn’t “clocked”. Meaning, the primaries don’t enter the collector sequentially, based on firing order. Track Day Classics pointed out that the firing order has a big impact on sound in their 8-1 header video.
@MrNeildrake
@MrNeildrake 5 ай бұрын
You are correct, I did not clock it sequential. I don’t think it would have helped the hp. I don’t know how much the sound would change. It’s an awful lot of work to go find out

Since 90 deg v8 it isnt even pulsing so I don't see any benefit of a 6 into 1 collector. Keeping the two headers separate with equal length runners will give even pulsing on each bank thus better scavaging for the desired rpm.
